Workout Music!

Postby Mandie » Fri Oct 20, 2006 10:05 am

Hey everyone!

Am getting a bit sick of my playlist at the gym and I've decided to freshen it up a little.

Can you guys tell me some of your favourite songs to exercise to, and why they get you going/keep you motivated?

Thanks! :D

Hi Mandy,

I've got to admit I am addicted to my ipod, actually the thought of going for a walk or run without it actually fills me with despair. I've got a lot of quite corny music in it at the moment including: Eye of the Tiger, All Fired Up by Pat Benetar, Maneater by Nelly Furtado, Days go By by Keith Urban, Hung Up by Madonna to keep me going plus a couple of funs songs for my warm up and cool downs like 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton and The Gambler by Kenny Rogers, I really am a country girl at heart.

Music well I love it loud, fast and heavy! If you like heavy....judas priest....but that's just me.

Kim - No, I'm not REALLY a heavy metal kinda girl.. I do like some nice hard electronica though, mmm, prodigy!

Seriously kids, Breathe - The Prodigy. That track HAS to get you going!

Everyone else? Jump in and add your favourite tracks, thanks! :D

LOL Mandie, yeah, I can get moving to Prodigy. I have The Fat of the Land on my memory player which has breathe on it. Very cool. That's the type of loud I like for cardio. Weights is different though as I need to concentrate more and count the reps. I sure as heck don't want to lose count and have to start over!

lol - Cotton Eye Joe is on my playlist already Ally

I refuse to listen to the Hamster Dance though!

Kim - yeah, I sometimes lose track when I'm doing weights.. I try to find songs with a beat I can follow (i.e. not too fast!) so I can count along

Well I'm a country music fan, but like modern stuff too.
I have scissor sisters "Dont feel like dancing" and dixie chicks "earl" and "sin wagon" Beccy cole has a song called " big girls" I like it because it talks about it being ok to be big if you want, it kinda reminds me about where I have been mentally in the past and where I want to go.... I just walk harder when I'm listening to it

I also am a die hard Kasey Chambers fan so have all her albums on my ipod..Especially like walking to any song of her first album "the captain" as I sing along as I'm walking
[no excuses, I can do it!

If I didn't have music, I don't know if I'd be able to exercise - I'd just get too bored.

Anywho, here's my current list of music that gets me going:

[b]Blackeyed Peas - "Pump It"
Blackeyed Peas - "Disco Club"
Britney Spears - "My Perogative"
Fergie - "Fergalicious"
Justin Timberlake - "Sexy Back"
Madonna - "Die Another Day"
Pussycat Dolls - "Buttons"
Beyonce - "Check Up On It"
Eminem - "Shake That"
Kelis - "Bossy"
Kayne West - "New Workout Plan"
Ludacris - "Money Maker"
TI - "Bring 'Em Out"

While I might not listen to all these artists normally, when I'm working out the beats keep my feet moving!

Ohhh I'm going to go get Prodigy, thanks!!

Umm..for me I prefer some of the older music.

But I do like some new stuff.

WolfMother - Joker and the Theif
Evanescence - Going Under
Justin Timberlake - Rock your body
Janet Jackson - Nasty Girl
Shanice - I Love your smile
Roxette - Dangerous
Gwen Stefani - Wind it up
Tupac - California Love
House of Pain - Jump Around
Dionne Farris - I Know What Your Doing
Pink - U and Ur Hand
Pussycat dolls - Don't Cha (this is a HUGE motivational one for me)

When I'm working out I tend to think of Ex's...lol not in the good way, in the "Hahaha, you wait til you see me" way. It makes me work that much harder.
Mini Goal - Reach Double Digits!! 99kgs

I almost forgot, I also absolutely love using Paula Abdul's "Straight Up." Don't know why, but it works for me.
