Walking ..

Postby Sassygirl » Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:45 pm

As my husband works long hours - my kids and I decided to do laps of our back yard (pretty big!) last night. We made a game out of it to see who could lap who - my youngest was on her scooter so she was chasing us to make us go faster. It was such a lovely night - and we all had fun :D

You also get to spend quality time with your kids instead of them sitting in front of the TV (I purposely did it around Simpson's time).

Totally agree, simpsons are religion in our house lol.

My 5 yr old daughter loves walking with me, She either scoots or takes her bike and she does my first half of the block which is about 2 kms. We just got her a new bike last week and she is as fast as lightning, im finding myself jogging to keep up with her! shes also really good motivation for me, coz the days i cant be stuffed I have her nagging at me to go excercise, which of course is annoying at the time but once I go im thankful for it.

:D

When my children were young we used to dance together. I'd pull out my favourite old records and we would sing & dance for hours! No wonder I was in good shape then. :)

Walking at a moderate pace for 30-60 minutes burns stored fat and can build muscle to speed up your metabolism. Walking an hour a day is also associated with cutting your risk of heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes and stroke.

that is a great idea, for you and your kids. Next time, you may invite your husband too. So you would have a family bonding. :)

You have a lovely family Sassygirl. It's a nice idea for families to have this kind of bonding. DH and I are running every morning. We run about 3-4 km every other day. Yes, we love running and our kids love running too. We do some cycling every Saturday morning and we love to do it. It is very fun and a nice bonding for our family.
