Week 3 Day 1 C25K Running Program (5 min warm up walk, 90 secs running, 90 secs walking + 3 mins running, 3 mins walking. Repeat intervals. 5 min cool down walk)

I skipped the program's cool down walk and did some extra sprints:
1 x 1 min sprint
1 x 90 sec sprint
1 x 30 sec all out sprint (as fast as my lil legs could go!!)

THEN I did my own 8 min cool down walk :D

I'm having a 'rest' day today. Just 40 minutes walking to and from uni and another 40 minutes round trip walk to return some DVDs.

I wanted to buy some 2kg dumbbells from Priceline to get more resistance work in (I only have 1kg weights right now). Turns out my local store no longer stocks them! The entire shelf is now taken up by a Celebrity Slim display. Bummer. :(

Good work :D All that walking is still great :D Not a total rest day!!!

Try Cheap as Chips for the dumbbells, I got mine from there and they were "cheap as chips"   Sorry :P

Thanks for the tip, Zeedeveelgirl. I just did a quick Google because I hadn't heard of that store before. Unfortunately it looks like it's only in SA and I'm in Melbourne. I'm going to give the Priceline 1300 number a call tomorrow and see if the city store still stocks exercise equipment. If I have no luck there I'll check out the prices at Rebel Sport.

Ohh really!?! Bugger!!! It really didn't occur to me that Cheap as Chips was only an SA store!! Hrmm that sucks then.
How about Target? Big W? K-Mart? They all have them :) Try to avoid Sports stores if you can, they are aaalways more expensive

You will be doing more before you know it, Helen :D :D Your walking is fab, just work on building that up and then when you're comfortable with that you can try something new :D :D

That's fantastic, GoddessInside! Walking is such a terrific way to exercise and as Zeedeveelgirl said it opens the door to new exercise down the track. Plus it saves on petrol money and public transport fares! 1.5km is a great milestone. Yay you!

Thanks guys, I think I'll end up buying some weights from Big W, Target or Kmart as you've recommended, but I'll probably check the prices at Rebel Sport first (it's only two minutes walk from my uni, and all the department stores are at least a train ride away). That way I have the advantage of knowing how much I saved when I eventually get them!

I emailed Priceline asking about their dumbbells and unfortunately they're no longer stocking them. There are a couple of stores that still have some, but since I don't drive I think travelling to Airport West or Dandenong to shop for just one item is a little excessive! It's a real pity as Priceline used to have some great and affordable fitness equipment. Most of my cheapie 'home gym' comes from their store.

Kudos to Priceline for their quick response, though. I filled in a contact form on their website last night and received a reply first thing this morning.
