Going for my first run in 2 years. I was on the school Swim and Track team 2 years ago, since then I've become lazy. But I am getting out the house for a run around the block in exactly 10 minutes. Wish me luck!

Well... this is what happened

I was able to run for 10 mins which was great... and then my head began to throb uncontrollably. I don't get headaches so this was very unexpected and painful. I started power-walking instead but then I thought it would be better to go home, and try again tomorrow (I'm still getting over the flu, so that might have something to do with it).

But I'm proud of myself for actually running for 10 minutes.

10 mins is still great after not running for 2 years.

are you planning to just run or are you going to build up to longer times with a mix of running and walking? i did that a few years ago and managed to do a 5km run in the end. running/jogging is such a mental hurdle for me.

but anyways, i reckon that's still a great effort & absolutely the right thing to do to come home if you weren't feeling the best.

Hey sassi thanks for the encouragement.

I usually walk a lot for my exercise. I'm a uni study so I walk heaps around campus carrying a lot of books... and my biggest hobby is shopping which means a lot of walking around the shops for a couple of hours carrying a lot of bags hehe

I'm not trying to run a marathon, maybe just 30 minutes 1/2 running, 1/2 power-walking every 2 days. I hope that's enough exercise. I'm thinking of joining a yoga class at some stage too.

Been having a few health probs so she did a complete examination and I mean COMPLETE. Have to have some blood tests done and an ultrasound of my tummy and surrounding areas - so will have to wait and see. Thanks for that Kate!
