Dying for a Snickers

Postby dietcoke » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:30 pm

I'm so in the mood for something chewy and chocolatey. A snickers would be REALLY good right now.

Has anyone tried those bars in the weight loss products section of this site? Are they any good? I saw them in a health food store the other day and was going to buy one to try but didn't want it unless I really needed it and knew if it was in the house I would eat it regardless.

i really like them - i've tried all 4 flavours. they're about 2.95 so they're not cheap & i wouldn't consider them as something to replace a chocolate bar (mainly because if i want chocolate, i want choc & would rather have a fun size bar than a substitute).

but...i do like them & they are quite filling. i don't stick to the times of day they suggest to eat them, just eat which ones i feel like  they're better than a lot of protein bars if you're on a calorie-controlled diet because they're quite low cal (around 136 for each bar), as well as low carb & low fat. some protein bars are quite high in calories & still high in carbs.

anyways, i'll stop yapping now - but i think they're definitely worth trying. :)

I didn't like the Slim Secrets bars, found them to be 'floury' tasting and dry! I love the Pria bars, also in the health food section. They're around about the same amount of kJ and come in Chocolate Cookie, Choc Mint, Fruit & Nut, White Choc Caramel and White Choc Strawberry. The Choc Mint is the best :D :D

Also, try Xana Bars in the muesli bar section of the supermarket. If you're craving a Snickers they're absolutely perfect and they're about 550kJ!

I agree Em - the Choc Mint Pria bar is awesome! I got one in my show bag when I did the Run to the G and have bought a few since :)

I work in a very large health food store that has a huge range of bars and without a doubt the Slim Secrets range is the most popular seller. We also sell Pria but it is no where near the quality of the most other protein bars. It is high in carbs and has not much protein so in fact it is nearly(not quite) the same as a snickers.Slim Secrets however are the opposite as they are high in protein and low in carbs and GI which we have been taught helps to keep you feeling fuller longer (something to do with blood sugar levels).
The chewiest one is the Mintabolism Boost but I also love the berries with white choc. The other brand that sells very well where we are is the Winners Gym bars and are a similar price (which by the way is cheap for high protein bars). So all in all check the nutritional panel of some of these products and if they are not much better than a snickers you might as well have a bite size one.
But Slim Secrets and Winners bars are the best of the large range we stock.
