*please note: SarahC did not start this topic. The original post was deleted* cheers - milkyway

I think most of us here are aware of the fluid balance affecting our weights, especially us girls at various times of the month! And we know that muscle gain or loss will affect weight as well. So, yes the scales are dumb... but we aren't!!

It's up to us to interpret the numbers that we see on our scales

I get really angry with people telling me what to do, especially when I already know. Its a question of motivation not knowledge. Most people here have the knowledge already and are not looking for another trip to the doctor's to be told what to do...

There are a whole bunch more of these posts I thought better off leaving than replying to...

Yeah. Not that I'm trying to attack you, but the way it works around here is that if someone has a question, we help them out. We're not pigs in a pen who have absolutely no idea about weight loss. It's a little insulting. Alot of people assume I know nothing about how it's done because I'm still overfat, but the truth is (without sounding arrogant) I could tell -them- a few things to improve their health.

In regard to the scales - weight loss is more than just a physical battle, it's an emotional journey. So I wouldn't ditch the scales because they aren't breaking everything down on a mathematical level - I'd keep them because having them there motivates me not to eat crappy food all the time.

Why don't you take this opportunity to observe every-day men and women's experiences?

I for one, don't really appreciate the tone of your post ... I find it extremely condescending.

I can understand that you are a weight loss consultant. Have you ever been in our position, where you've had to lose weight ?

Reading your posts, I dont think you have :!:

Most weight loss consultants HAVE been through it, thats what makes them so good at what they do.

He's just trying to help? Why do you all have to go bite his head off? All the info was correct, and people DO focus on weight too much. Maybe he was blunt but thats just how some people are.

I find his style of posts extremely condescending too, regardless of whether or not they're factual, it's the tone that really puts me off. I don't believe he's genuinely here to help US, I think he's here to get more traffic and links to his blog (which I haven't & nor will I visit) and increase his online profile. Just as bad as a porn spammer, IMHO.

I really don't understand his motivation for being here :?

I was actually wondering the same thing as Helen and think Misstoodles offers some good advice - here's a chance to see inside the minds of people who are on a journey to healthier lifestyle - priceless!

Well ive been reading the progress and opinions on this particular forum contributor today and my 2 cents are that advice is only useful/helpful when its asked for!! Whatever this persons motives really are i think they should have taken the time to get to know the people around here and their individual issues before dolling out the advice. Its a shame really because you could have been a great/helpful contributor.

Postby madgicsh » Mon Jan 07, 2008 12:13 pm

Or, are we all annoyed that someone has only 4kg to lose?

It would be so much better to do what we, the ones with all the knowledge, have done and wait until we have 30kg to lose  - or would it?

A fair go for everyone would be nice - even us oldies can learn from the young!

We all have a problem in common, so let's work together and NOT be so touchy! :?

Ok I don't actually know what was said as I haven't had the internet for a couple of weeks but going by what the other ladies of the forum have said I feel this guy whoever he is, isn't welcome unless he can put his advice on here with a polite tone rather than talking to us down his nose.

The first post has actually been deleted by a moderator - it was a PT guy offering unsolicited advice in a bid to boost links to his blog where he was selling some kind of eBook on weightloss - against the forum guidelines. I know now it looks like SarahC started this topic, but she was unfortunately just the first to respond.

Hey - I didn't delete it!!! :P All I did was put a note up the top to make sure anyone coming to the topic fresh doesn't think sarah started it.

It looks like his entire account has been deleted which could only be done by admin/scott - if you look at who started the topic it says 'Guest'. Who knows, maybe he asked to have account and posts deleted cos we gave him such a hard time for being such a tool :P

</justification> :P
