Jane's Weekly Weigh In

Postby hippy_shake » Wed Jun 04, 2008 10:52 am

Ok, so I have a 'personal progress thread' but I wanted to start one that will just chart my weight loss, and have minimal ramblings :P I think I have a problem seeing the bigger picture and get a bit discouraged when I dont have *SUPER HUGE* weight losses each week. My weigh in day in Wednesday morning so I'll update this thread at least once a week (possibly more) and make notes of things I've done differently each week and see if it makes much of a difference. I started at 80 kgs  which is pretty huge for my height of 163cm and my aim atm is 65 kgs :D Although I can't remember being under 70 at any point throughout my high school life so that will be a pretty big achievement in itself! When I come closer to my goal I might reassess, depending on whether some of the weight is muscle or whatever. Ok so here we go...

Week 1: -2kgs (started cutting out junk food and pretty much had soup for lunch every day, not alot of exercise)
Week 2: -0.5kgs (Porridge for brekky, stayed within calorie range all week and began at the gym, working out for probably 45min/1hour on average per day)

I was a bit disappointed by my loss this week, but then thought hey its still a loss!! So I give full permission for anyone to tell me off if I'm whining about not loosing tonnes each week. Its a gradual process and my brain needs to get used to it. This week I'm gonna mix it up a bit with weights, cardio, hopefully swimming and some group classes too.

Well this time last week i was 77.5 and now i'm 76.5 :) one more kilo gone :D

Start: 80kg
Week 1: -2kgs [78] (started cutting out junk food and pretty much had soup for lunch every day, not alot of exercise)
Week 2: -0.5kgs [77.5](Porridge for brekky, stayed within calorie range all week and began at the gym, working out for probably 45min/1hour on average per day)
Week3: -1kg [76.5] (continued with porridge everyday, did lots of exercise at the beginning of the week, but not as much towards the end and had a good few slip ups food wise, but kept record of everything)

This coming week I want to focus on consistency- with exercise and calorie intake, and also increasing the amount of fruit I'm eating- as I did have a few desserts that I hadn't planned on, but hopefully fruit will fill me up as well as curbing my sweet tooth.

Also I have started going to bed alot earlier which is definitely helping as I wake up before my alarm in time to get something small to eat and go out for a walk/jog before they day starts.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
Jane :)

Hey,
Just wanted to add my measurements, only got a tape measure last night so it will have to be from my current weight of 76.5kg

Bust:41
Waist:32
Tummy:41
Hips:41
Thigh: 24.5
Arm: 13.25

I'm using Calorie King and they only track chest, waist and hips, but I really want to see my tummy shrink!! Does anyone know whats the best way to measure, like should it be with clothes on? or what? and also what a good time to remeasure, as I assume it wouldn't be something that would decrease greatly each week?

Any input or advice would be great

:D Jane

i would messure the same day each week when you first get up with no clothes on.. i believe this is most accurate.. so your not weighin in each week??

Oh ok, I was thinking once a week would be too often to measure? And yeah I am weighing in each week, every Wednesday :)

Lost another half a kilo this week which i'm really happy about cuz I had exams and not alot of time to exercise

Start: 80kg
Week 1: 78kg -2kg
(started cutting out junk food and pretty much had soup for lunch every day, not alot of exercise)

Week 2: 77.5 -0.5kg
(Porridge for brekky, stayed within calorie range all week and began at the gym, working out for probably 45min/1hour on average per day)

Week 3: 76.5 -1kg
(continued with porridge everyday, did lots of exercise at the beginning of the week, but not as much towards the end and had a good few slip ups food wise, but kept record of everything)

Week 4: 76 -0.5kg
(scaled back exercise due to studying for exams, but stayed with my calorie limits and resisted temptation numerous times!)

Lost weight again this week which is pretty cool as I've been sick in bed and unable to exercise the whole time. Haven't been totally good with my eating either, but I wasn't eating a whole lot of stuff so maybe that helped. Its hard to see what the exact figure was (old scales), and it might be up to a half kilo loss this week, but i'm gonna say 1/4 kilo loss just to be on the safe side. Would hate to overestimate this week and then be disappointed because of it next week. Am still feeling the effects of the sickness but am hoping to get out for a walk today and then increase to more strenuous exercise throughout the week. Might be going to Byron Bay not this weekend but next weekend, so would be really cool to achieve my first 5kg goal by then :)

Starting weight: 80kg
Week 1: 78kg -2kg
Week 2: 77.5 -0.5kg
Week 3: 76.5 -1kg
Week 4: 76 -0.5kg
Week 5: 75.75 -0.25kg
(no exercise because of sickness but had some restraint with eating and concentrated on smaller portions)

Am thinking I'll do another set of measurements at the start of next month and then continue to do so at the beginning of every month. My plan for this week is to start recording everything in calorie king again (i stopped cuz i was just too sick) and build up my running pace again. Still focusing on getting the right amount of fruit and veg, but now need to increase my exercise minutes, aiming for at least one hour a day when I'm feeling better. And of course the main goal is to get under 75kg!!!
Hope everyone is having a great week

Love Jane.

Hey all,

Weighing in a day early this week as we're picking up family from Ireland from the airport tomorrow morning and I don't know if I'll get a chance to log on at all. Good news is that I've reached my first goal weight!! 75kg :D Bad news is I'm still sick  this is the cold from hell. But as long as I'm still loosing weight I'll survive. So to update my weekly thingo:

Starting weight: 80kg
Week 1: 78kg -2kg
Week 2: 77.5 -0.5kg
Week 3: 76.5 -1kg
Week 4: 76 -0.5kg
Week 5: 75.75 -0.25kg
Week 6: 75 -0.75kg (no vigorous exercise, just walks when I felt up to it and more in a 'maintain' mindset food-wise than loosing, but very happy to see a loss :) again, no foods were off limits but kept an eye to portion sizes)

Strange, it doesn't feel like I've been doing this for 6 weeks yet, but its cool cuz its becoming more of a lifestyle :)

My aim for July is to get down to 70kgs which is a very challenging goal but one that I think is achievable if I can up the intensity and do more exercise and cut back on treats. I think I work best when I have something difficult to strive for, but overall if I keep loosing each week I'll be extremely happy. Very excited about our kombi road trip to Byron this weekend :) And I'll get lots of exercise from surfing and walks on the beach :) Although I'm conscious that food will be the issue, and trying not to have too many treats.

If I get some time later I'll do my measurements and post them online, as I want to do that at the first of every month. Although I do know that I've gone from a size 16 to a size 14 :) so thats cool.

All the best,
Jane

Only do your measurements once a month - - you'll see more drastic results which will spur you on! Weekly is too often to see a change, I think! Good luck!!!

I missed a weigh in due to being on holidays and then gave myself the rest of the second week to go into damage control mode and it worked! I am back to 75kg which from one point of view could be taken as a bad thing, but from another I managed to get rid of the extra 2kgs :!: that I put on while I was away, so i'm really happy :D :D Back on track and loving it! So to update my progress list thing:

Starting weight: 80kg
Week 1: 78kg -2kg
Week 2: 77.5 -0.5kg
Week 3: 76.5 -1kg
Week 4: 76 -0.5kg
Week 5: 75.75 -0.25kg
Week 6: 75 -0.75kg
Week 7: 75kg (back to my original weight after holidays)
