It's difficult to stay on track with anything, let alone weight loss when you have a bereavement, but you seem to have coped well.
What I do with the chocolate and ice-cream etc is I have Saturday night off. I know that I'm not allowed anything extra on any other day, and it works.
One night usually doesn't have any effect on me. I don't go crazy, but I allow myself anything I want on that night. I usually take my wife to the local leagues club, so maybe you should drop a hint if you have a partner
Our local club have an all you can eat buffet, including ice-cream, but my real weakness is apple crumble.
I also find that the best accuracy you get get is about a kilo. With hydration changes etc, it's not worth weighing any more accurately, and I find that I have daily variations of about 1.5kg anyway, because I drink a lot of fluids.
