Congrats on the loss. Keep up the good work. I know you'll get there. It isn't important how long it takes to get there, the important thing is not to give up. :)

thanks everyone :) Somebody said to me once, that while the weight may have taken a long while to put on, it should take just as long if not longer to come off - and that along with learning healthier food choices, should help it stay off. Makes sense really I reckon.

I am however wondering if I need to set smaller goals for myself - 10kg seems like heaps and I am not sure I can "see" that far ahead. :?

Also, what do other people reward themselves with when they reach a goal? I'm used to a food treat, and obviously that's not an ideal reward when trying to drop the kilos.

Hello PK. Breaking down your goals I think is a great idea. It makes it seem possible. When you only think of your goal weight is seems so daunting. I think it also break the spirit a little knowing you have so far to go, so yeah, smaller goals are the way to go.

Well done on your weightloss! Your off to a great start. :D

If 10kg goals seem like heaps how about setting yourself 5 kg goals or less and then reward yourself when you reach those? When I reach a goal I buy myself something like a book (or two  ) a piece of clothing, or haircut. I know some people who have manicures/pedicures, massages, facials, buy cds/dvds or go out somewhere with their family (like the zoo, museum, fun park, etc)...

I buy clothes or shoes as my little rewards. It's great because when you're losing the weight it's a double treat to get a new outfit and see the sizes go down! As to the shoes... well shoes are always great.

Again, a very nice loss!

I usually reward myself by upgrading my bike or cycling wardrobe just a bit. It makes me feel more confident when I'm on the bike. However, the bike is done right now, so I have no clue what to reward myself with. I think for now I will reward myself with second hand clothes. Since the loss is going so fast, I'm not too keen on buying brand new clothing for the upcoming weeks...

That's a good tip from Freddy. I know that when I was running I'd buy some nice workout pants or a top to keep me motivated. Using that as a reward system would be a great idea. Thanks Freddy. I am totally stealing your idea now! I'm going to buy myself some new running shoes when I get to my next mini-goal. :D
