Re: Clark's weigh-in

I bought some new scales today that also try to measure body fat. I know that the method used by these scales isn't as accurate as other methods, but it's nice to have a rough figure to work with. I tried out the scales and they gave me a measurement of 17.1%. I've been looking online to see what I should be at my age (I'm 25), but I'm finding contradictory info as always. Anyone know anything about this and can give some advice?

Also, I'll start weight in with the new scales starting tomorrow, keeping in mind that they may measure slightly differently.

if you want to start using new scales but also want an acurate weigh in- weigh in on both so you can see how much you lost from one scale and also your starting weight on the new scales.

I wish I had some advice on the fat % thing but have no idea. Well... maybe look on the dietitians australia website, they may have the info or have links to other reputable sites

Actually, the old scales kind of died, part of my reason for getting new ones. I thought maybe it was just the battery, but replacing it didn't help. They were only about $20, so I'm not entirely surprised.

Anyway, the new and more expensive scales put me at 89.2 kg yesterday, so that's my new starting point. I'd say this is actually more accurate than my other scales, since I've used pharmacy scales a couple of times and they normally measured me as being a couple of kilos heavier than my home scales would.

you're very brave for measuring the body fat% - I don't think I'd even give it a try until my BMI was more respectable. But sorry, I also can't help. I suggest you try posting in another section of the forum, perhaps "ask the mob" - I'd be keen to know that one too, but for later down the track  Well done too, you are coming along nicely :D

I'm finding that the body fat measurement with these scales is a little erratic. It gives me numbers of anything between 12% and 20%.

Ugh, that should say 88.6 for the new weight. This forum needs an edit button, haha.
