Thanks e&me! You are right - it won't be long. It might take 18 months, but every kilo makes it so much closer, and having mini-goals leading up to the big one gives one the sense of achievement one needs to stay motivated.
It reminds me of my jogging days - there was one enormous hill on the route, climbing about 120 feet, week after week I tried jogging up that hill, but ended up having to walk up. Then one day I jogged all the way up, and realized that my mistake had been that I was looking up the hill. When I kept my eyes down I was able to just keep going, and, before I knew it, I was at the top. It was one of those 'Ha Ha moments.'

My weekly weigh in is not till Saturday, but I have reached the Saturday goal of 149.5 two days early (just hope it stays off till then :? )
I made Chicken Curry yesterday (enough for about 8 meals) so I treated myself to Curry on Toast for breakfast - Yummy!

(half kilo of chicken mince I found in the freezer; 2 tomatoes; large carrot; stick of celery; home grown chillies; can of kidney beans; 2 Tblspns Olive Oil; Tumeric; Cumin; Corriander - should last the better part of a week!)

Hi Bren just wanted to drop by and say you are doing great!

When I first started, I was wrapped up in time frames. I started Aug last year and I expected to be at goal by at least this time this year. Well, life got in the way lol. I soon found losing weight, fitting into nice clothes and looking good was a bit of a downer if I couldn't go out and show it all off while having a few drinks, or a dinner or a lunch. I would also be thinner but probably also friendless lol. Now I know it's all about the lifestyle. If I carry on like I am now for the rest of my life I will get to goal and maintain it. I will also have an amazing, fun time doing it!
My journey so far...

I know what you're talking about from past experience - maintaining your weight, once you are down there, is like living on a knife edge. I got married and that was the last I saw of the me I want to get back to.

Still on 149.5kg so still on target.

My third weigh-in.
Weight is now 146.7kg
Loss for week 2.5kg
Total loss 11.3kg (since 1/10/2010)

Target for next week 144.7kg

NB - food was much the same, but engaged in exercise by way of exercise bike. started at 10 minutes twice a day progressing to 15 minutes twice a day. I am going to build up to 40 minutes over a period of time. I think I might need to raise the calories to slow down the weight loss to 2kg per week.

My fourth weigh-in.
Weight is now 144.9kg
Loss for week 1.8kg
Total loss 13.1kg (since 1/10/2010)

Target for next week 143.0kg

My body seems to be hanging on to the fluids at the moment, and I am a bit constipated - so I feel that my weight might be over-reading by half a kilo. It'll average out over time, and I shouldn't be too disappointed at missing my target by a mere 200g - heck that is less than a cup of coffee

I stepped up exercise bike to 25-30 minutes twice a day, hope to step up to 40 minutes in a week or two.

Thanks for that encouragement.
Mentally, I realize that I am doing well, and I am feeling so much better than a month ago, having lost 7 kg since the beginning of the month. It's just that occasionally I look at the final goal weight, and nearly freak out. Even though it is going to take about a year to get there I have to keep in mind that, regardless of anything else, in 12 months I will be a year older - if ... nay, WHEN I lose that weight, my biological age will be less than my current chronological age.

Another good result. Lost a few kilos at beginning of week with the cool weather (fluid output :D ) - so even though it may seem excessive loss I am not too concerned.

My fifth weigh-in.
Weight is now 140.1kg
Loss for week 4.8kg
Total loss 17.9kg (since 1/10/2010)

This week I have included walking - in place of one of the two exercise bike sessions each day.

Thanks miss_viva

Can't stand that show - the little I have seen of it anyway. Too competitive for me, I just like to compete against myself - that way you always win

I forgot to put down my target for next week. I'll go for another 2kg loss and make it 138kg.
