Hi Alex, I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion but as someone that has been on many 'diets' in my life, it can become very depressing and hard to stick to. I have been on shake diets and find I lose weight then eventually gain it all back and then some. The word 'diet' is often associated with 'I slipped up today, so I will make the most of it and stuff myself then start TOMORROW'. Honestly, the best thing is to start looking after yourself TODAY! So what if you felt like a bit of chocolate or cake or fast food, just cruise through the day and make a better choice for your next meal. Diet insinuates a temporary change, but what we need is a permanent way of life in order to keep the weight off. Putting good foods in and exercising while still enjoying the yummy things in life.

It just sounds like you're cranky with yourself for not starting on the diet when the reality is that there is no time like the present to start making permanent changes.

hi alex.

im not to sure about optifast but ive tried celebrity slim wich was $50 a week to swaping to ultraslim which is $15 a fortnight.
same 2 shakes a day with a peice of fruit or a hand ful of nuts between a healthy dinner.
i find it does work but its not a quick fix. they are only a boost.
your best doing it for 4 weeks then cutting down to only 1 shake a day for 2 weeks then none. and just slowly ease yourself back on to eatting meal but keep them healthy. then every 4 weeks do the shakes for 2 weeks again. my doctor was the one who taught me to do this.

if you just do the shakes then stop you will gain weight quite fast plus extra.
they are not a permante fix you have to change your whole lifestyle.
and you will get better results with 1 hour exerise session 3 times a week.

with this routine i know it defintly does work as long as your willing to do the hard work but give your self a day off each week but dont over do it. a friend of mine droped 20 kgs over 4-5 months but has managed to keep it off now because slowly getting her into a routine helped.

the tickerfactory once you creat one you use the bbc code in your signature.
its quite confuseing working it out how to actully create it on the site.

you can do it, just have a little faith and its ok to eat the occasional chocolate or softdrink just opt for the lower in calaories one. but even if you dont just eat it and then get back on track dont wait til the next day or week other wise you will put it off forever.

Good on you for exercising on the bike Alex, that's great. Eat less and better and move more is the only way this weight loss thing works. After a while, you end up feeling so good after exercise so you want to do more and more and it's less of a chore. Hopefully you can sort a ticker out so we can track your progress :)
