thanks Tea for those encourageing words. I just thought today wow this is a journey and not all journeys are smooth.. there are bumps, set backs and hurdles. So i am trying to keep positive.. I have vowed to myself that this monday coming i am going to make sure i walk 1 hr each weekday.. I have in the past been doing 45 mins 3-5 times a week... I am determined to do this.. as my username says "AboutTime "

Will record weight on my weigh in day which is this sunday coming..

Peace

One number doesn't tell the whole story. Don't hassle over it too much.

I weigh myself daily. Most of the experts don't like that because they know that body weight can vary greatly daily. I do it with the strict understanding that one or two days doesn't necessarily make a trend. My weekly figure is more important.

There are many reasons why the body reading may vary. Water retention, bowel and bladder movements, general health, hydration, muscle developement (this is the best reason), variation of your scales, natural body cycles (especially if you are a woman) and others beyond our ken. I know at times I can have a daily reading that is a kilogram different than one before. I take it with a grain of salt and don't get too worked up by it.

If you keep to the basics, control your intake and make sure you exercise to create a deficit, you will lose the weight in the long term. That is just how the body is. Just keep grinding it out and you will win out!

Kim

Em

Often the journey is more like a rollercoaster than a smooth train ride. Up one day, down the next. Just when you think that you have it all worked out your body throws you for a loop. Hang in there and keep your focus on the basics and you will succeed.

To quote Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day!" Seize your tomorrow!

Hello Catie ,
Welcome to the forum... You will find alot of inspiration and encouragements here. I know I have. :)
Yes i have lost almost 18 kilos...Which i am stoked about....The thing to remember is if you eat some junkfood or you put on some weight while trying to lose it.. Dont be to disheartened but stand back up on our feet and keep going forward. Onward we go !! I have learnt this lesson when i have been disappointed with my scale readings. I havent had any junk food now for about 4-5 months and i feel sooo good. :) Junk food is completely unnessecary for me now. The first couple of weeks i craved carbs and sugar ( which were my food of choice ) but once i got over those couple of weeks i was all good.

I wish you all the best Catie on your new slimmer you and this journey.
Remember its a lifestyle change not just a diet fad then back to eating again and no exercise only to put the weight back on.

Best of wishes

Hello Kim,,
Yes I am pretty happy with this weeks loss.. because i didnt feel the best and I didnt walk as much as I have been. I intend to step up my game and walk 1 hr or more , 5 times a week..Sometimes I do allow myself to miss a day which is still pretty good , 4 times a week... I just want to be bit more stricter on myself... I want to be 100 kilos by May 2013,,, That is my goal ...i think that works out to be about 1.3 kilos a week to lose...doable i wreckon..

signing out

My average over the 60 weeks it took me to lose 87kg was 1.45kg. To get from 153.7kg to 98.7kg (the week before I was 101.3kg) took 27 weeks (for 55kg loss); that averages out just a fraction over 2kgs a week. You can see that from my numbers that what you are trying for is doable. Just don't expect to be losing as quickly when you reach closer to your goal. :!:

When I started my goal was to be finished by week 36! Boy, did I get that wrong! Even if you don't get there by your time limit, you would certainly have bitten off the lion's share of it. While it is great to have goals, getting the journey right is more important.

Regards
Kim
