Good one Simon! When you can still lose when things aren't going well in your life - that means you've got the lifestyle right.

That last bit took forever for me until I just gave it one almighty push to get that monkey off my back. Keep chipping it down...go for it!

Best wishes for your family...my prayers are with you and yours

Whoops, nearly forgot the weekly weigh in again, I have had alot going on with 2 family members in hospital at the moment so I really haven't been focussing on myself, I did jump on the scales this morning and weighed in at 87.7kgs, the weight loss has really slowed down but hey, I dont mind as long as it is still heading in the right direction. Nearly 20kgs gone and 0.7 away from my reassessed goal...will see how far I get in looking at 85kgs, but I must say that I am feeling really good at the moment.

5/10/12 - 107.2kgs
29/10/12 - 101.7Kgs
5/11/12 - 100.0kgs
12/11/12 - 97.7kgs

So...I was having a good think about my journey so far and what has motivated me...I reached my initial goal of 90kgs relatively comfortably so I changed my goal to 87Kgs..whilst not there yet I am 0.7kgs away from that goal and now I think I need to refocus and challenge myself, I have now changed my goal to 85Kgs....I will get there thanks to all the support from you guys! :D

Excellent result considering it's getting to the pointy end of the journey...and with family in hospital.

If you feel comfortable to try for 85kg - go for it but if your body doesn't like it - listen to it and back off.

All success to you Simon! You worked hard for it!

Pleasantly surprised this morning with a weigh in of 86.7Kgs, that is a 1kg loss this week! I think I might finally be through the plataeu that I was experiencing.
So now that is officially over 20Kgs gone, my BMI is approaching the "healthy" point, (although I think it is fine now), broken through the 87Kg goal and heading for 85kgs :D

A kilo loss is brilliant work! :D Simon you are a powerhouse! Getting a number like this is very good going at this stage of the game.

What do the charts say is your healthy BMI weight? Just interested...these things are only a general guide anyway.

It wont take you long at this rate for you to knock off that 85kg mark! Congrats on losing 20 kilos - that's a great number and you've done it very quickly.

That's great Simon! :D I really love how you are using those small numbers to motivate yourself to the big number. Hopefully you'll get back to full health and get your body to surrender that kilo this week. Go Simon!

I like the way you and others here present their weight reduction in a list month by month. I find that helpful and inspiring. I think its particularly noteworthy how long you and others manage to maintain yourselves on a diet. I don't think i've ever been on a diet for five months. Three months seems to be about my limit before getting bored or other factors start changing. So great job.

Thanks Kim and fourtyfour, the encouragement of people on this forum and seeing what others have achieved inspire me to get healthy. I don't see myself as being on a "diet" foutyfour, I have changed my lifestyle which has in turn enabled me to lose weight and to continue to maintain it. It is getting harder to shift the last few kilo's though, I will let myself enjoy Easter (not too much though) and then give it an almighty push to hopefully get down to around 82Kgs, then it will be maintenance time. :D

So I decided to change my goal again, it started at 90Kgs then quickly became 87kgs, one I got there I changed it to 85Kgs, whilst not quite there yet (85.8kgs last check) I decided that I am going to have a crack at 82Kgs, I think the last time I was there was when I was 18. My wife and family etc have asked me to stop, but why the hell should I stop when I am feeling so motivated? I will relax a little over Easter and then have an a solid 4-6 week crack at shifting the last few kilo's.

That's it Simon - the word "diet" as used in the real world is a dirty word. Just a recipe for failure...lifestyle is the way to go. It's the difference between "doing" and "being". One is substainable and the other isn't.

The reason why your wife and family are concerned can be because of a trick our brain plays with reality. Their mental picture of you is of a heavier face and body - that is the "normal" you to them. That "normal" image has also been conditioned by their brain not to look as fat as it really is. So when presented with your new normal face the brain tells itself that the image is not only skinnier than it is but also that it is too skinny. Recently my wife and friends have commented about old photos of me. Their brains have adjusted and now see a far fatter Kim in them than they ever remembered. As a magician I take advantage of all this. For example by conditioning a person to see a coin I can get my spectators literally to see a coin go into my hand that actually never did.

Having said all that, you are probably looking drawn and tired. The bottom line is that weight loss is about stressing the body until it gives up the weight. In maintenance mode your body will settle down. In my case I got my bottom back and my fingers got thinner.

Be careful though, some people do get addicted to losing weight for the sake of losing weight. Check the height/weight charts and make sure you are ABOVE the mean average. Once I got to my goal weight I reaccessed myself and realised that 2 or 3 kilos heavier was better for my body. Always listen to your body.

Agree with everything you said Kim, I don't feel as though I am addicted to weight loss, I have my off days like everyone else, but I have come too far in this journey to stop now. 82Kgs will give me a BMI of 25 which is at the top of the healthy range for a 180cm male. Having said that though, I don't always subscribe to the BMI thing as everyone is individual. Personally I have an above average upper body build with broad shoulders and barrel chest (stems from heavy manual labour when I was younger).

Anyway, last weigh in before Easter came in at 85.6Kgs, I will relax a bit over the break but keep up the exercise before pushing on through to the finish line! Have a great Easter everyone.
