DD_Diva, congratulations on your loss over Christmas - what a feat! Looking forward to following your journey in 2014 :)

Awww shucks, thanks Shel,
Wish I could say it was easy, but as I'm sure you know, it was anything but (easy)!
Weight loss takes a great deal of effort, but if you stick to your guns, you can lose your saddle bags!
My aim right now is to lose a kilo before I take off for a 3 week holiday to the US. It's going to be tough while I'm away, but I plan to do a HEAP of walking to counteract any thing that gets passed my lips!

Yep it's not about the big losses, it's about consistency. I've only gotten this fast because I've persevered! If I'd given up I know I'd be back where I started!

Down 0.2 kg this week which is better than it seems as last week my weigh in was at 9 am whereas this week was at 4:30 pm. So if anything I expected a "gain".

BUT at this end of the game, I'm trying not to focus on numbers. If weight loss stalls I can always drop down to 5000kJ but I'm still losing on 6400kj so I'll wait a few more weeks.

Ugh stupid phone. I meant far not fast! Fast is not necessarily good when you're talking weight loss! :)

After a gain of 500g last week I decided to try a 5000kj plan to kick start another run of losses.

It must have been exactly what I needed - 1.5 kg lost this week. That's 1.7% which in my opinion is a bit high. I know right... complaining about a big loss! Im just thinking about my body. My concern for its welfare is at the top of my priorities! Imagine me saying THAT just over a year ago!!

Still, I'm psyched to see the number to goal shrink week by week! :D

YAY!!!!! Omg, you are so close to goal, Shel! You must be absolutely on top of the world  I'm so proud of you. I do understand about not wanting to have huge losses, especially so close to goal, it's good to let the last ones creep of slowly and calmly. Still, that's a great kick start! Congrats!

Thanks so much Shelley! I can't quite believe it myself. I recently bought some new dresses, one's a bit figure hugging and I wore it yesterday. I felt amazing! So confident and happy with what I've done! Me and nobody else!

I haven't updated this for a few weeks.. Naughty me! I had the 1.5 kg loss, then stayed the same in the following week, a 200g loss and this week a 500g loss.

So still plodding along. I have my eyes set on 40kg mark (loss total) then getting under 80. After that everything else will be a bonus! :)

Hi shel_bel,

I just wanted to let you know that as a new person here, I have read your thread from beginning to end and am so inspired by what you have achieved! I have also learnt a lot from the advice that you have received from others along the way so thank you for sharing your journey, I only hope that one day I can achieve something near to what you have!

Cheers

Thanks! This end really tests your patience! I'm up 200g from last week but I'm sure it's my body reacting to the crazy humidity lately. Measurements show that I've lost 3 cm off my waist and another 3cm off my hips in a month. My hips are now smaller in circumference than my waist was when I began!

So even though scales have been a bit up and down lately, measurements are showing that I'm still getting results! :)

You are doing well (as I knew you would). 8) :D

This part is the marathon part of the journey...it is tough going but you just have to keep at it. Remember that routine is comfortable for your body...so don't give it predictability...mix it up to keep an edge to your metabolism.

...And keep that goal in front of your nose - don't settle for less. You deserve only the best from yourself. Go girl! :D

Good to have you back, Kim! Hope everything is going well for you.

Well I a big, itchy problem this week! I've come down with chicken pox and it's horrendous. I've tried to keep my water up but my eating has been a bit erratic! Was meant to weigh in today but I'm still contagious and could probably scare people!

The good thing is that my body is the healthiest it has ever been so I'm in the best position to fight this!

Good to be back. All is going well. Theories of me falling flat on my face and regaining those 87 kilos are greatly mistaken!

You will find that the new healthier you will recover much quicker than that old you. I have found that when ill I have retained much more fluid and so felt very bloated but don't worry to much about it happening to you. It is just the body using what it needs to get better.

When I had my hernia operation I couldn't exercise for ten days (or hardly move for that matter) and I was eating like a horse (ok...may be a bit of an exaggeration - a small pony). I was fully reconciled to the fact that I would have about 5 to 10 kilos to get back to fighting weight. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that I had lost 2.1kg! Even accounting that 2 or 3 kilos of loose skin had been removed I should have gained something. What I didn't take into account was extra burn my metabolism was doing getting my body back into shape. So bottom line is don't worry...your body will do the right thing by you...just look after yourself and get better. :D 8)

I never for a second thought that had happened Kim! :D

Still down for the count with this dreaded chicken pox. They are healing but I haven't moved much for nearly 2 weeks. My mum came with me for a walk around the block and it took it out of me! I didn't weigh in at the centre this week again but according to my scales I think I've lost around 2kg. Not the ideal way to do it! If it's muscle loss then it will show as I become more active again. But it won't worry me. I needed to rest and I think I could've done way worse than I have!
