Quick hello

Postby golden » Sat Oct 20, 2007 9:37 pm

Hi, I'm here to lose 8.5kg by March 2008 (Start of Semester 1, 2008). I'm aiming for a BMI of 19 (currently at 22).

I'm going to be completely honest with my progress, because that's the only way to succeed!

Hi Golden and welcome to the forum! Honesty is the best policy!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

hi, welcome.

Just to let you know - BMI healthy weight range is 20-25... 19 is actually underweight. It might be difficult to maintain this weight because your body usually responds to being underweight by slowing its metabolism and holding onto food.

Can I recommend the lowest you go is BMI 20? BMI is not highly accurate, however, it tends to overestimate rather than underestimate. That is, if your BMI is 28 but you are very muscly, you are probably within the healthy weight range. So a BMI of 20 is a good aim if you want to be skinny, or if you want to have more muscle mass, aim for BMI towards 25.

Hi Golden and welcome aboard :) I'd like to suggest that you consider something other than BMI as a goal as it's rather flawed. Aim to fit into a particular dress/clothing item or something like that :) Good luck!
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...
