Hi all!!

I've suddenly came to realize that I have put on lots of weight over the last 6 years. It felt like the world came tumbling down over me when hubby said 'err...I think your thighs are getting bigger'. I went through my cupboard to find my oldest pair of jeans. Sure enough, I couldn't even get them up.

I'm 27 and I weigh 65kg. I use to weigh 50kg when I was 21. On average I've put on 2.5 kg every year. 2.5kg didn't seem much to me at that time, but then I thought, if I put on 2.5kg every year for another 5 years. I'd be 77kg. Best if I do something about it now!!

All this weight started piling when I started working. Obviously sitting behind a desk 5 (sometimes 6) days a week with long hours does not help. This has got to change. From now on, I'm going to start work at 9. This will at least give me enough time for a short walk.

I don't need to be skinny, I only need to be healthy. I'm aiming to get back down to 50kg. I need to get back into shape.

To start off, I'm setting little goal for myself to get back into the habit of excercising and eating healthy.

This week's goal - cut out all fizzy & carbonated drinks & walk for 30 minutes every day.

Wish me luck!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I think I'm on my way. Day 2 and I haven't had any sugary fizzy drinks, eating 5 small meals and walks in the evening.

Hey, I know exactly what you mean about the long working hours and the sometimes 6 days a week.

Do you work in the city? There's so many nice parks to walk around on your lunch break. A colleague and myself were doing walks a few times a week on our lunch breaks before we got swamped with work. Should start doing that again, it's also nice to break up the work day. Only problem is on a really nice day it's hard to go back to work afterwards.

How did you manage with Melbourne Cup celebrations?

Best of luck working towards your goal.

Thank you all for your support.

Opal - thanks for reminding me about the parks. I use to go there a bit but I tend to cut short my lunch hour just so that I can go home a bit earlier.
