Hi everyone!

Postby Sarah » Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:16 pm

I am new to this group. I was looking around for some group support- I have been on a diet for 4 weeks now and only lost 3 kgs! My goal is to lose 17kgs.
I have been feeling tired and frustrated.
I will be logging in every Monday to look at any replies and I would like to communicate with other women in my situation.

Welcome Sarah,

Are you the same Sarah from Melbourne - single Mum with 2 cats? Just asked because I'm from Melbourne.

You'll definitely get loads of support from everyone here, everyone is friendly, no one is judgemental, there is always someone around willing to listen and best of all everyone is full of great advice.

You sound disappointed with your weight loss but 3kgs in 4 weeks is fantastic. The experts say that 0.5 - 1kg is a safe and healthy amount of weight to lose per week and that weight lost slowly is more easily maintained once you reach your goal.

Unfortunatley for us it is a lot easier to put on weight than it is to lose it. I keep things in perspective by looking at how long it took me to put on 20 kgs, for me it crept on over 2 years. I've estimated it will take me 40 weeks to lose 20kgs if I lose 0.5kgs a week so under a year - not so bad when you think I put it on over 2 years . . . . .hope this helps????

How are you trying to lose weight?

Take care,

Hi Sarah,
I agree that 3kg in 4 weeks is very good. In my first few weeks I actually PUT ON weight!! . It's so hard to be patient and just keep at it when you don't feel like what you are doing is getting results fast enough, but please don't do anything silly like reduce your food to unhealthy levels as this will do your metabolism more bad than good and also reduce your energy levels and send your blood sugar levels all over the place.

Take heart in the fact that others in similar situations are recognising your successes! I know it's hard cause I have trouble seeing any difference in how I look despite having lost 16kg. Everyone else seems to see it and say "wow" but to me, I'm still me and look the same. Yuo've just gotta trust that it's working!

35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails"

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"

Hey Sarah and welcome.

I have also lost 3kg in 4 weeks but about a week ago i felt out of sorts and didnt know if if all this effort was worth it, but i just grit my teeth and pushed on and i got over it. Remember hormones, stress, etc have a big effect on us. Any time you need a vent feel welcome to come in here and let it out. It'll make you feel better.

Take care :D
