help with weight loss

Postby Maureen » Mon Feb 27, 2006 11:32 am

Hi, I am 59years of age and am overweight....I am 5ft6inches tall and tip the scales at 16 stone.
I lost my mum and husband last year and possibly because of this stress, didn't eat properly and lost 2 stone which I kept off till my son moved home temporarily...
I do night duty permanently in my job and this also doesn't help me too much. I usually do not eat till night time when I have a cooked meal of meat and vegetables
I cannot afford to go to Weight Watchers so was wondering if there is anyone out there who could help me on to the right track.
Maureen

Hi Maureen, Welcome to the forum.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your mum and husband last year, that must have been simply awful for you.
We have some great tips on our Home Page that might interest you and we also have a Food Diary and an Exercise Diary that might help in monitoring your input and out put too.

hello Maureen

First of all I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss...
The good news is you dont need weight waychers to loose weight.
Working night shift is a challenge in itself because I guess you dont get to eat meals during normal hours and your bodys clock would be out of sync.

I Have lost over 37 kilos in the past year by making sure I stick to my points( I am not a ww member I just know all the point values in food) and by making sure I exersise for 50 min 6 days a week.
I try not to go to long without eating and I drink 2 litres a water daily religiousley and I think it has been a big help.

I also delt with my inner demons because I got obese by eating the wrong foods because I was an emotional eater.I consider myself a recovering emotional eater these days....
YOu have been through so much over the last year so maybee it would help you to talk about how you are feeling maybee to a councellor or a trusted friend. It is amazing how much our emotions can affect our weight...

I hope this helps a bit.If you ever want to talk at all I am here and I am sure I speak for everyone else here...

Natalie :)
