I'm New! and glad to have found you.

Postby mumofprincess » Tue Mar 21, 2006 1:14 pm

Hi everyone, i've been spending some time reading quite a few of the posts and really like the attitude and supportive environment that i find here.

So here I am. I'm mid 40's, overweight (duh!) 88.9kgs and only 161cm. Diabetic (insulin dependent). Joined the new Contours Express ladies only gym recently and have been to a couple of sessions. Really hoping I can lose the weight that has crept up on me over the past few years. I eat pretty sensibly (although i do cheat occasionally) and I probably wouldn't be like this now if I could just find the motivation to exercise. I HATE IT. Always have. My hubby jokes that for someone who doesn't like housework, especially dusting all the furniture, it'st about the only thing I do with my treadmill.

So, I'm looking for support and motivation to keep me on track and just some people to talk to. :D

p.s. it's really nice to find an Australian site

thank you for the welcome. I look forward very much to participating in the forum. I work from home so sometimes feel very isolated which can tend to put me off track. :D

Hi mumofprincess,
you can alway log on here when you feel lonely- there is usually someone on pretty soon after you post (although now I have a job I can't come on line during the day - sorry everyone).

Welcome aboard - it's a great goal to lose a bit of weight and get a bit healthier and it might help your diabetes a bit too. I'm sure with all the support on this forum you'll reach your goal!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Hi there mumofprincess

I am glad you found us too! I am new here too so let us begin and continue our weightloss path together.

I know what you mean about finding an Aussie site. There are many good ones but its nice to talk in kgs and not lbs.

Hope to see you around the boards real soon.

:D :D

ok let me explain i started at 81 in july 2005 before I had my daughter, lost 4 kg after having her, then went from 77kg to 52 in just under 8 months.

How have I done it? Well, I have done a lot of exercise (1 hour a day minimum) for example power walking, cycling, jogging, Pilates &Yoga. I now attend a gym that a lady in my city set up herself that has circuit classes (stationary bike, rower, cross trainer, mini trampoline, steps, jumping rope, punching bag), classes for ab exercises, bums, legs and thighs, and one just for abs.

Nutrition wise... well I tried a lot of diets and all were successful for me (but not every diet is for every person) and only changed diets because I got bored. But I suggest just eating lots of vegetables, lean meats (chicken, fish, lean beef), not having too much sugar. a treat once a week or every two weeks also won't destroy all your hard work either.

Hello...

Postby sokbee » Fri Mar 31, 2006 8:44 pm

Hey, the first thing in my mind, when i was reading your post was... y mom. My mom is about 165cm, and she is about 100kg, guess what, she is a diabetic, patient of high-blood pressure, and had an heart-attack 1996 ( 10 years till now).

Please do take care of yourself, and lose weight, get help! I have a real life example of side effects of overweight, so please take care and lose weight!

We support you!

sokbee
I am trying to lose weight badly, as I wanted to be healthy and feel good, sexy and I just want to be in control again. I want to be in control of my life and off course my body, and the way I look!
