Breastfeeding hindering progress but still trying

Postby River » Tue Feb 26, 2008 11:31 am

Hi all, just joining up because I've heard this is a pretty inspirational forum.

I am a stay at home Mum to 4 girls, 9, 7, 2 & 8 months, I am breastfeeding my baby and find it difficult to move weight while breastfeeding. Added to that is every time I go to the gym, drop a snack or cut a portion size, my milk supply struggles and its doing my head in trying to balance things.

I am currently at least 30kg overweight and would love to be free of that this year - or at least a good portion of it.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all more and sharing this journey with you.

:D
Gotta get healthy for my girls...

I always thought breastfeeding helped with weightloss!! I lost all my baby weight plus more when I breastfed, but I suppose everyone is different.

Maybe try not to concentrate too hard on losing weight and just be healthy until you stop breastfeeding. You don't want your milk supply to suffer if you want to continue breastfeeding. Make sure your eating enough to supply yourself and your baby with enough nutrients.

Yeah, me too. With my first two babies it flooded off me.....especially after my son. But not with my youngest, sadly. She was a brilliant feeder. But I didn't lose an ounce, sadly. Just goes to show how we are all different, and then each baby can make us different again!

River, it must be frustrating to have all that motivation harnessed, but then not be able to fully utilise it.

What type of eating plan are you following?
