Protein Shakes

Postby kaze » Fri May 16, 2008 9:55 am

Has anyone had any real success with protein shakes? I would like to try one but I am unsure as to whether they actually work or not. The photos in adds look incredible but I am still sceptical.
Thanks

Hi Kaze

I have tried Musashi protein shakes, both WPI & the meal replacement ones. Personally I found that it wasn't very beneficial for the weight loss side of things but it did fill me up & therefore didn't snack during the day as much.
I've stopped having them everyday & now just have it on days that I go running.

Hope that helps
Cass

Hi Kaze,
Protein shakes only aid in weighltoss in certain ways. Like cass said the fill you up so your less like to snack during the day, They give you energy so good to have before a workout and also they are good to have instead of dessert at night so you body doesn't go into starvation mode while you sleep since protein is easier to break down then carbohydrates. I have the wpi formula either before a run for energy or after a strength session at the gym because protein helps repair muscle.
Hope this helps

Thanks for that. I'll give them a shot as suggested to see how it goes. Great idea for use instead of dessert. Hadn't even contemplated that. It's worth giving it a try.

HI

I am about to start the protein shakes myself.

I have heard they are fantastic. I saw friend yesterday and she has been on the shakes for a while, no exercise and she lost 10kgs.

So I would give it a go!!!!!

I have been mixing my protein powder up into a mousse - just adding a tiny amount of water or milk and mixing. Turns out like a thick paste. Can be very delicious, depending on the brand though. I also bake with it, make cakes, slices, pancakes etc. So much yummier than using it like you are meant to - as a shake :P
