I am new to this!!

Postby tess88 » Tue May 09, 2006 4:19 pm

Hi,
I am new here also, my name is Tess and I wanted to join this because i need some serious motivation to lose weight! Im currently 68kgs and i really would like to get down to 60 or so. Im quite tall so my weight is balanced out fairly well but i am still unhappy with the way i look/feel. Juts a question, ive recently taught myself not to eat all the calorie filled foods, but i got a bit upset at work today and ate about 200g of dried fruit. Is this going to effect my weight loss much?

Tess :D

Hi Tess and welcome to the forum.

Make sure you have a good look around at the forums and the site in general as there is so much great information. People on here are very supportive and often have the answers to any questions you have.

As for the dried fruit my trusty calorie counter says 50grams of dried fruit is approx 98-150 calories. Obviously this is a guide for dried fruit in general. Wether it effects your weight loss I can't really say as I think you need to factor in your daily calorie intake and exercise. For me, it is good to be aware of what calories are in the food I eat especially if snacking. The easiest way to put me off a bar of choccie is to tell me how many calories it has. :?

Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi Tess, welcome to the forum. I regularly have dried dfruit and cashews for my afternoon snack, so I figure it can't be too bad for weightloss.

As usual though, everything in moderation!

Look forward to seeing you in the forums
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).

Hi Tess, welcome to the forum. Dried fruit has a lot of sugar in it. Not necessarily added but fruit in general has sugar in it. You should limit your fruit intake to 2 pieces a day, as with the dried fruit as well. Try to eat raw vegies instead. Easy to say but hard to do!!! :)
