Hi

Hi All,

I turned 40 a little while ago and it dawned on me that it was probably time to make a few changes. I started watching what I eat and exercising regularly (usually walking for an hour in the evening) about 4 weeks ago. All the puffing and panting led to me giving up smoking too - a little bit over a week on that front.

I suppose I'm hoping to draw some inspiration from the hard work others are putting in here.

Cheers.

Two main goals - firstly and probably most importantly I want to get fit, it's probably been a good 10 years since I was at a healthy weight.
The second reason is appearance / self image - whilst it's not something I dwell on too much, I do hate being fat, having limited options when it comes to buying clothes (brings it all home when you need to go to 'Mr. Big' or whatever it's called to find shirts that fit) and being too ashamed of my body to even be seen shirtless - sheesh I'm a guy and we're supposed to be able to get away with that when it's hot ;)

Even after this short time I've started to hang out for the end of the day so I can come home, strap on the HRM and get out walking, and I've found that after 8 days off of the ciggies I already have more steam, am breathing easier, and have to work harder to get my heart rate up - so all good really.

Cheers.
