Newbie....Fumbling My Way Through

Postby wiccan_beltane » Thu May 07, 2009 11:02 pm

Hi. Just joined, so thought I'd do the sociable thing and pop a "hi" in here. I love forums and I've known I need to lose weight for quite some time, but clothes shopping over the weekend really dampened my spirits, so I'm now determined to get there. 20 kg weight loss would be great, a little more would be awesome. Always open to advice and chat. :)

Welcome!

If you are looking for a place to start, I recommend filling up the fridge with lots of fresh foods - meat (if you eat it), vegetables and some fruit. Don't buy anything that comes in a box or lasts longer than a week except for some dairy items and/or frozen vegies.
Reduce the amount of refined carbs you consume (sugar, breads, pastas, rice) etc and cut out completely sugary drinks (switch to diet if you absolutely must have them).
Exercise for 30 mins a day/5 times a week. This can be as basic as going for a 30 min walk every day or you can ramp it up to jogging, cycling, exercise video etc if you feel like it.

Remember that your diet contributes to 80% of all your weight loss efforts so do your best to keep it as clean as possible, but one cheat meal a week is okay.

Best of luck! You can do it. I won't tell you that it will be easy cause I know it isn't, but remember that you are worth it and that your hard work will pay off by you feeling and looking better.

Thanks everyone.

Working on the exercise thing, but my job and the hours I need to put into that seem to get in the way alot, but that will only be until the 12th of June. :)
