I'd suggest signing up to Calorie King - this will be a good starting point as to what how much you should be eating and exercising to reach your goals! I find when I put in my meals before the day begins I tend to stick to it more!
Do you do any exercise at all at the moment?
You can also get a ticker for your weight loss at ticker factory! I think it's great to be able to visualise what needs to be done!
