Good on you for getting on top of this thing at 17/18yo. You never know, maybe your family will see your determination and successes and start making some healthy changes to their lifestyle too. Even though it does make it hard, it is possible to do even when the people around you are making not so good health choices. You're old enough now (and obviously committed and smart enough) to make some choices of your own and take some responsibility for your own health, so good for you.
