Are you new and are you a guy?

Postby Butterfly_Dawn » Tue Sep 08, 2009 9:59 am

Firstly welcome!

You may notice that the gender balance seems to be in favour of the ladies and feel a little put off by that, however there are a number of men who have been very active and valued members for some time now so please don't feel like you're all alone. You are definitely welcome here :D

There is a special section set up for the boys in recognition of the fact that some of you guys may need or want some man-to-man support and advice (not that we ladies wouldn't support and encourage you too!). It's been a little under utilised, so I'd like to encourage you to make it your own and use it... maybe we should have called it "the shed"?
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Thanks for this. I am new to this and I am a guy. I guess, it must be because the ladies are "expected" to complain about their weight loss but guys are supposed to be proud of their gut! But I'm not. And I need help

I joined some time ago, but drifted off for a whiles and put all the weight back on. Seems having my gall bladder out is making this weight loss thing a little harder these days. I'm back to concentrate on the food issue this time round. Thx for thinking of the Guys Dawn & hello again. Hope you have been well

Hi

I'm a guy. 56 years old - 182cm tall and peaked at 158kg at the end of Sept 2010. Currently 151kg and I hope to get down to 75kg. I was that weight during my late teens/early 20s and again in my mid to late 30s. Each time I put on weight was after I got married - less regular exercise and too much old style cooking. During my mid 30s I took up jogging (about 8km per day) and I really felt good about my myself. My wife recently died after a long battle with cancer, and it has made me take stock of my own health. Currently I am carrying around 'another me' mostly around my stomach, and it has caused back problems which makes it hard to be on my feet for more than about 10 minutes - this in turn makes it hard to exercise. I am hoping that losing another 10kg will enable me to do some walking. I am losing weight by watching what I eat, and yesterday I got some Optislim, Acai Berry capsules and some green coffee from the chemist. I am hoping to have an rapid initial weight loss and then about a kilo per week.

I found the weightloss site, and was impressed by some of the before and after photos - very inspirational!

cheers
Brendan
