Hi.New to Forum

Postby Darklady » Sun Sep 03, 2006 10:11 pm

Hi Everyone,
I have only just joined, and I was hoping as you all seem so friendly that I might get some support on my weight loss journey as I have quite a lot to lose 30kg....and I always seem to fall by the wayside lose some then gain it back again. I am in the older age group off 58 and nead to lose the weight for my health, but would also like to look better aswel. I do get down hearted as money is tight, I am the breadwinner so I have to work as my husband is on a disability pension, long to retire but thats no hope unless I won the lotto LOL.... so food becomes the cheap way to brighten your day.
Would love to hear from you.....and any helpful hints.

Hi Darklady,

I've just started this journey too. There's a great bunch of really supportive people here who are going through exactly what you are. You are not alone. No matter what you're thinking or feeling (or craving), someone here has done the same thing and can offer advice on how to get to the next step.

Good luck - just think one meal and one day at a time to a healthier way of life.

Hi Darklady and welcome to the forum!! You will find heaps of support here and lots of friendly advice. It is lovely to have you join us.

Even though you are on a tight budget, do some comparisons...For example I used to buy 2 or 3 blocks of family chocolate each week even though I was on a strict budget, I would always complain to my husband that money was tight and we could not afford healthy food and then one day he said to me how much does it cost for the chocolate we get?? I worked it out to be around the $13 mark. He said well that is a fair bit of fruit and veg!! From then on I started changing my thinking and if I reached for anything "junky" I would go to the fruit and veg section and see what I could pick up for that price. I was surprised at how much fruit and veg, and crackers etc that filled my pantry.

I wish you every success for your weight loss journey. Feel free to share your ups and downs with us!!!

15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
