Hello All

Postby Rainman » Sat Sep 19, 2009 8:35 pm

Well, I have just registered for this website and I hope that it can give me the strengt and motivation to get my life back on track. I think I was on this site a few years ago but don't remember my old user name.

Anyway, my name is Paul and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I am 30 years old & married (no kids).

I was disgnosed with severe depression & High Anxiety late last year into early this year. I have had it for years but it got out of control to the extent that I could not handle it anymore and out of fear for myself, or someone else, I sought help.

I am travelling along ok now, but I have not been able to get my life back on track yet.

The situation is I weigh over 140kgs (will weight myself on Monday when I start ), recently lost my job as a sales representative, feel fatigued, demotivated etc.

My weight issue is one of the biggest issues in my life. I have gone from a Sales Representative Guru who could sell ice to Eskimos, to someone who probably couldn't even give food away to the homeless (you know what I mean). My weight has made me extremely lethargic, tired, demotivated, with no care in the world. I dread going out as I struggle to find clothes to fit me, hate socialising with people asI feel how I am being judged, and the list goes on. I am sure a lot of you have felt this way at some point.

My goal is to lose 60-70kgs, get a great job that I will love and enjoy and feel confident in doing, and oneday have a family.

I know that by losing the weight, I will feel so much better about myself that I can turn my life around for the better and be around for a long time.

So, I hope to speak with some of you over my journey and will eventually post pics as I go.

Any advice or tips that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Take Care

Paul

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the forum :D
I'm only just into my weight loss journey but if I could offer any advice it would be, just do it, don't put it off start getting rid of that weight today, don't make excuses, if you stumble along the way get back up and keep going don't give up, it will get you no where. Also find something that works for you, I started off using the calorieking website to track my daily calories, I found it great to keep you accountable for what you put in your mouth in the first few weeks, lots of members here use the site too. Don't look at the large number of kgs you have to lose, take it one day at a time, it can be too daunting looking at the big numbers take it 5-10kg at a time, 5kgs might not seem like much to lose when you have much more to lose but honestly even after 5kg loss you will feel better then all those little losses add up and you feel even better as you go along .

I know a lot of people here can sympathise with the struggles you face with yourself and your self image, you are definately not alone. I have very low self confidence and I too hate socialising, buying clothes etc. I am starting to get a bit better so I really do think when you start looking after yourself and can see the improvements in your image you start to get in a better headspace. Well thats the case with me anyway.

Well good luck with your journey, hope it goes well :) Remember you can always jump online and post on here, most the time you get great helpful support and if nothing else it sometimes helps to get you feelinsg out and vent your frustrations

Thank you Sarah & Jules.

Much appreciated. I am definately starting tomorrow. I have struggled the last few days.

I have been a sales rep for years which doesn't help with all of the takeaway food you eat on the road. Tomorrow I start a new job as a pick/packer for a warehouse. The reason I am doing this is to clear my head from the stresses, the fact I don't want to be in sales anymore, and also as a weight loss tool as I will be on my feet running around a warehouse all day, so with a combination of the right foods, exercise and constant walking around, I hope to drop some kg's pretty quickly.

Cheers
