Gutsy joining the weight loss brigade!

Postby Gutsy » Fri Oct 09, 2009 11:57 pm

Hello all
I have been a lurker on this forum for quite a while, but I have now decided that it is time to become a real member and be accountable for my weight loss actions. I never had a weight problem till my late thirties and now that I am in my forties, it is getting even more difficult to lose weight.

It feels to me as if I have been losing, or trying to lose the same 8 kilos for the past 8 years without much success. Anyway, it is now or never. I have decided to try and eat the WW way and stick to my daily point allowance. I was a member a few months ago and lost quite a bit, but became disillusioned when I started to run and gym again and my weight just got more and more. I know it will level out again and that I will hopefully start losing again if I continue with the exercise, but I just sort of gave up and stopped going to WW.

So here I a, hoping that with the support of the forum and me being accountable, I will at last get and stay on weight loss path and see some lasting results.

Take care
Gutsy.

Hi
I'm a newbie too! bit the bullet once again after seeing myself reflected in a shop window....why is it that we can kid ourselves that our weight gain doesn't bother us and then boom. Now at 77kg suddenly I feel embarassed that I let it get to this point again. I have been trying to keep my weight under control pretty much my whole adult life. I peeked at 86kg, at 5'3", after my second baby. Like many others I have been successful at various times using various programs, WW worked well for me but after going so many times you think I know all this...but how do i turn this into action.
I guess that is my biggest pitfall, I need to exercise more, at 45 I am finding my fitness slips away very quickly if I don't keep it up.

goals? well I'd like to get started first of all. i am now riding my bike to work, about 40 min a day & I am writing all my food and drinks down.

mini weight goal is 72kg, that's a 5kg loss to get started.

true goal weight is 68kg,

love to hear from others re the challenges, like how to find time and energy to fit exercise in

Thanks guys, I am sure we will be able to reach our goals with all the support on this forum. hyzyfit it is good to see another member of similar age on the forum! You are correct, it is so much more difficult to keep fit at our age. I weighed myself this morning, so I am clocking in at 71kg(I was in the high 60's most of this year, so this is quite a shock to me) I am aiming to get down to 63kg, so I have 8 kilos to lose!

Finding time to fit in exercise is not always easy for me, working full time and then having to cook and cleanup most evenings after work, weekends are also mostly jam packed, but I do try and squeeze in some time here and there. Some evenings I go jogging or power walking from about 20h30 to 21h30, depending on the weather and if I feel up to it(not always). Other times I go before work or whenever I have some time to spare.

Take care & good luck!

Please don't be discouraged. The forum is a little slow lately.. Not sure why.

What's your height? My goal is 65kg but I'm thinking of lowering it.. Not sure.. But you've got a lot less to lose than me! Good luck :-D
