It's happening all over again...

Postby restarted » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:54 pm

Hi everyone

I'm 35 now and have really strugged with my weight for most of my life so when I jumped on the scales this morning I weighed in at a 116kg so I have 50kg to shed. This will be my second attempt this year to get my eating habits under control with exercise so I hope to chat to and get some support from any other members in a similar weight range as myself.

Thanks for reading :)

Hi,
Welcome!! :D I'm glad you are here too. I have 52kgs to loose so I understand that overwhelming long road.
I agree taking it one day at a time is the way to go when you have so much weight to loose.
Look forward to hearing about your progress, and sharing ideas. XXX

Gday restarted! I'd disagree on the day to day thing, I'd suggest 2-3 weeks at a time. That is of course if you're a compulsive daily weigher like I was. I'd suggest weighing every week to fortnight, and judge your success on that factor. Weights can fluctuate daily, and seeing an increase of up to 500 grams from one day to the next (even with correct eating) can really be offputting. Try living week to week, and telling yourself that you're going to have a cracker-go at a whole week, and measure up at the end of it. It will show you more accurate results and give you less of the 'rollercoaster' feeling that weightloss can entice.

Oh no wasn't suggesting to weigh every day
I believe you actually don't have to weigh in, but monthly is a good idea just to keep yourself in check.
I ment that be proud of your lifestyle changes and food choice success on a day to day basis. Hope this explains things a little better. XXX

Hi Restarted

Welcome to the forums :)

I too have a lot to lose. I am happy to help keep you "honest" if you do the same for me!

I started at just over 121kg almost two years ago. I am now down to 105kg. It's been a long, hard haul and I still have a l-o-n-g way to go but I feel much better than I used to! I should point out I have not been watching what I eat every day of those two years!! For me it has been as much as getting into the mindset of thinking I am worth enough to do this for myself. And it's still hard. BUT WE WILL GET THERE!!! ....Eventually

see you round

I am also in a similar position!!

I lost 39kgs in 2006 and have managed to put back on 30 of them over that time. Now I'm 99kg again but don't want to get back over 100kg.

I have started exercising and watching calories this week so here starts the mammoth journey again... kind of disheartening but necessary as I would like to start a family in a few years.

I like the idea of this website- so many of us are having a similar experience and it will be good to share ideas and stories.

Here we go :D
SW: 99kg
