A long way to go :(

Postby Seadragon73 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:22 am

 Hi everyone, i'm new but keen to finally get back in control of my weight. I know I can do it as I have did it 1o yrs ago but boy do I have a long way to go . This time i'm a much bigger girl after having had children over the last 16 years. I have not even weighed myself as the batteries in my scales are flat , a bit of a give away of my lack of attention to myself :? . My youngest starts school next year so that's it... me time  I am really looking forward to both recieving and giving support and sharing experiences with you guy's and girl's. Can't wait to make some new weight loss buddies so say hello when you get the chance :D

Having a lot of weight to lose can be daunting, but break it up into smaller amounts and its not as scary- 5kg is not a huge amount to lose and its easy to see the light at the end.
The first step is to acknowledge your starting point, does not have to be on the scales, you could get out a tape measure and record your measurments, or take a photo of yourself as a visual diary of your progress. But most people do still prefer to record their weight.
Good luck with it all, and look forward to hearing about how your getting on

Hi and welcome, SeaDragon

Losing a lot of weight may seem daunting, but it is certainly doable.

For many people it's just a matter of doing little modifications to their lifestyle, such as not having a bowl of icecream, of eating a vegetable instead of a pie, or not sitting down in front of the telly and going for a walk instead.

Doing these little things each day, day after day after day after day, is the tough part, but it's the only way to form good habits.

There are plenty of useful articles on the main website and past discussions stored in the forum so dig deep, there's lots there. You'll find both encouragement and education here. A final thought - it seems to be increasingly evident from reports both medical and anecdotal that sustained weight-loss and weight maintenance is as much psychological as a physical process, so don't neglect that side of things.
Striving to improve in every way possible.

Hi SeaDragon,
sorry the welcome is late, but... WELCOME! :D
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!
