New to this...old to dieting

Postby Nic27 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 8:48 pm

Hi there

I'm Nic and a yo-yo dieter from way back. My weight has escalated considerably over the last couple of years and I'm finding it challenging to get my head around how to tackle it. Silly diets and/or ignoring it just isn't good enough anymore!

Would love to get some tips and encouragement from fellow forum members to help me focus and stay on track. I've 30kgs to lose which feels daunting at the moment but I'm determined to improve my health and feel lighter (in every way!)

Looking forward to hearing from you, Nic.

Hi Nic & Welcome

As they say, nothing worthwhile is ever easy.

I have lost 14kg in about two months, and already I'm feeling lighter. I think when I get down to my target weight I will have to walk around with an anchor to stop myself from floating away

Seriously though, lots of knowledgeable, supportive people are to be found on this forum. Making yourself a plan is a good first step. Know the foods to eat, in what quantity and how often, and also know the foods to avoid. Find some kinds of exercise you can do - in my case I started doing 10 minutes morning and night on the exercise bike, but two weeks later I'm doing up to 30 minutes twice a day. Maybe I'm lucky, but I'm losing 2kg a week at the moment - might not work for everyone, but sure is working for me. :D

Have fun while you're losing weight.

Bren

Wow, good work Bren. That's very encouraging to hear, thank you. Great idea about making a plan too. I've been very adhoc with my eating habits and need some structure so I think actually writing things done will help. Thanks again, Nic.

hello and good luck with your weight lose,,,
i think a good way too get started with trying too get weight off is too do it in blocks...
do a graph and have blocks of 5 kgs and when u get down 5 kgs u reward yourself with a big block of chocolate(only joking)a nice new pair of knickers...thats what i do i bye myself something pretty every 5 kgs,or go and get my hair cut...every time 5 kgs is gone from my body i do something nice for myself....
ive been doing this for the last 20ish years and have got myself some lovely things over the years...hahaha its bloody hard work isnt it....

im a yo yo also.....

im here thinking about a coffee and a slice of cake wish i wasnt but i am..... :x

I think you yoyo so that you can start all over again. and get more of those pretty things. You should perhaps give them back when you put on weight :(
