Want to lose 38kg for my wedding

Postby SkinnyBride2B » Fri Jan 21, 2011 10:26 am

Hi all,

Firstly i guess i want to say that from my experience, weight loss is all about a good state of mind - i find that if i eat well and exercise and stay positive - i want to keep going. The thing that gets me is if that thought of "You're fat, you cant lose that much weight, why bother" enters my mind - i second guess my ability, strenght and will power to do this thing. So i need some support...

Im currently 93.5 kg (have lost 4.5kg in 3 weeks) and have a goal of fitting into my dream size 10 wedding dress within 15 months - im guessing in the vacinity of 60kg.

Any buddies want to keep me accountable and write to me everyday? I'd love to hear other peoples stories and goals

i know exactly what you mean! Although i didn't start with so much to lose, I lose it so slowly, and that does get me down and thinking 'im going to still be this chubby at so-and-so's this weekend, so why not just have another bowl of icecream' etc...

i felt like this over chrissy/new years - i had hoped to be lower by then and I had stalled out at 75kgs instead. It doesnt sound like much but I felt very discouraged, another years worth of chubby photos to look at! But the thing i had to remember was, I was LOT happier at 75kgs then I was at my original weight of 80-something...

What i mean is, even if you dont hit goal by your wedding, for whatever reason, you will be a much happier bride at, say, 80kgs then you will at 92kgs. (I dont mean to say you won't hit goal - just offering another perspective - a way of thinking I've found helps to combat the 'doubts' when they arise)

Also, I will say that I think you're weightloss goal is quite reasonable - roughing aiming to lose .5kg per week is healthy and sustainable... i hope you get in a few good weeks at the start, as sometimes happens when you begain your weightloss efforts :)

Hi Airly,
Thanks for the post - just wondering how long its taken you to lose the 5kg that you talk of?

In 2006 i was 82kg, and went down to 66kg. Then i moved towns and did absoluely no exercise for 24 months and blew out to 98kg.

I guess in the end its all about your attitude. The mind is a bloody powerful thing.

Even if i crack the shits with the scales after working out - at least i feel the rush of endorphins and that feel good feeling after. Thats something!

Well I started in November last year - I was probably a little over 80kgs to be honest. I dropped the 5 kgs in about a month - I was very happy with that! - then stalled for a month. :?

Although my eventual goal is 62kgs, that may change as I get closer - I'm not really focussed on my eventual goal anyway, but really wanting to hit 68kgs, as that was the weight i was at when I last felt really comfortable about my body/size etc. Its also when my BMI offically hits 'normal' from 'overweight' :)

Abolustely agree that it's all about attitude - I sabotage my weightloss with my negative thoughts too though :( Makes me wonder if a part of me doesn't want to lose the weight, though god knows why...

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys... its easy to get discouraged some days.

Wedding is 12 months away, 5th May 2012 so i have plenty of time. Taking it much more slowly now that ive lost the first 20kg. Im just over half way with another 17.2kg to go. Still around a size 12-14 on the bottom and size 10 - 12 on top.

My size 10 wedding dress is patiently waiting for the day it zips up with ease.

Thanks again
