Hey urekafrm! I LOVE eating rice (I went to the Philippines to volunteer for a charitable org and that's what we ate EVERY meal, and I loved it!) and I understand for most Asians rice is a constant for every meal. Although rice (or ANY white carbohydrate in particular) when broken down and digested, gets converted into sugar, and that is something that a person who is trying to regulate their food intake should take into consideration. I don't think eating rice is bad, I would say just eat in moderation. Carbs are important because it is the main source of energy, but instead of eating processed carbs, perhaps eating complex carbs is a better alternative. I eat legumes and beans to substitute for my rice consumption...cos beans are both protein (which is good for building muscles) and carbs. Hope that helped.
