Hi everyone,

I have joined this forum in the hope that I could use some motivating encouragement from others dropping the kgs.

I have a daughter, she is 1.5yrs. A partner, he is supportive but can sometimes be a little insensitive to what a girl needs to hear. I am 175cm tall and weighed 91kg after my girl was born. I have dropped to 84.4kg but have hit a major plateau. I am starting to slip back into old habits and such. See I am also recovering from depression, this makes it sooooo hard to stay focussed.

Anyway, I would like to know a few things. Like what has been successful for people, has anyone experienced what I have, especially with regard to the depression?

Hey Aquagirl!
This forum is great for motivation.
I struggle with depression, and the impact it has on my weight. I get unmotivated so easily and want comfort food! My way of combatting it is to make my weightloss the one thing that I control, when everything else is out of my control, if you know what i mean. It's actually helping me to fight depression!
Good luck, plateaus are sooo frustrating. Try mixing up your diet, or even having a 'bad' day. Sometimes I'll pig out and end up kickstaring my weightloss again when i go back to healthy food!
I'm on weightwatchers, generally, and just eating low fat/low cal.
Life is too important to be taken seriously!

hi aquagirl welcome to the site and forum

feel free to join in when and where you feel comfortable. you can find motivation via the challenges and weigh ins :) browse around for certain tips. we are all following different plans here. i have a daughter who turns one on saturday. whenever you feel upset stressed or depressed jump online here and vent away :)

Congratulations on your weight loss to date and whatever you do, don't give up you have done so well already.

MissE has given some good advice and I'm sure there will be others who can help too. There is some plateau info on here so sing out if you have problems finding it.

Hi Aquagirl and welcome!

Depression is, unfortunately, all too common and the symptoms can be very counterproductiuve for trying to lose weight. By the sounds of it, you are working on the depression though and I have no doubt that the happier you feel the more you will get out and live life which helps lose weight and the more you succeed the better you feel, and so on and so forth.

The support and motivation on this forum should also help and there is always someone here to listen/read.
