Hi!

Postby Luke79 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 1:19 am

Hi forum,
I'm new at this forum. My name is Luke, I'm 32, from Melbourne (Eastern Suburbs). I'm 5'11 (180cm) and weigh 115KG. I fit into size 37 pants and actually hold my weight quite well  , but I do need to lose about 20KG to look and feel really good :-).

I have lost about 5KG very slowly in the last 6 months. I eat fairly well, but could really benefit from getting off my butt and doing some exercise.

Hi Luke and welcome. Sounds like you are well on your way to losing weight.....winter is hard so if you can do it now it will just fall off in spring (well lets keep the hope alive).
Keep us updated on your progress and what you are doing.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome, Luke!

We could all do with some more movement!

It is a bit harder to get motivated in winter but if you start cracking down now, by summer you will be that little bit more fabulous than you are now. :)

Hi everyone!

I didn't really put any effort in to weight loss until about Christmas time. I'm now down to 108kg, and back into size 36 pants. I would like to keep going with this. I've found diet change to be the most useful tactic for myself. I already feel heaps better, having lost about 12kg from my heaviest point. :-)

Welcome Luke to the forum.

Its all about gradually building a healthy lifestyle that works for you. It sounds that you are well along that path.

What sort of exercise are you planning to get into?

Wishing you all success

Thanks Kim :-) I have been really lazy with exercise so far. I know it is recommended as an important factor in weight loss, but I lose weight very quickly with a diet change. Cut all the excess out and it really goes fast :-)

That's true to start with but when you get to the pointy end of losing weight you will find that it will not be enough. My first week's weight loss was 2.5kg with no exercise but that caper didn't last long!

The thing with exercise that people get wrong is that they bring an "all or nothing" mentality to it. You have to start small and gradually build up your fitness. This doesn't mean being slack...it means pushing yourself without doing damage. Losing weight without exercising is a bit like stepping into the boxing ring with one arm tied behind your back! I don't know about you but I'm not that good a fighter!

This is your journey and these are your lessons. Best wishes for success.
