16 years old-Kevin

Postby KevinC » Fri Nov 16, 2012 3:22 am

Hi folks,
my name's Kevin, I'm 16 years old and i am at about 99,6 kg's (215 lbs I guess), highly overweight.
I've always told myself to start losing weight and keep on a diet, and it never worked.
I'm someone who needs a lot of motivation, and my girlfriend is right now motivating me but it would be nice if some people posted their progress throughtout the months/years and from what they came,
I go running 3-5 times a week (for about 30 minutes straight). Also having 2 hours of sports at school at thursdays.
I also try to count my calory intake (I really try to stay below 1500 kcal/day). I am 1 metre 81 and 215 lbs.
Anyone knows some tips for me to lose weight quicker or lose BELLY fat (i know theres no shortcut for that i have to lose overall body fat) but i mean to lose body fat quick.
Thanks!!
Cheers
Kevin

Hey Kevin, just want to drop a line and say your not alone in the motivation department.
I am new to this site and hope that it can help with my 15 year battle with my weight.
It's great you go for a run, I can't even do that cuz I am worried about what my neighbours will think. There is no quick fix sadly other then spending hundreds of dollars on operations that really are only that, a quick fix.... I think your on the right track.
Keep up the good work

Kevin

I'm excited for you. I had to wait till I was over 50 years old before the penny dropped tht it was time to lose weight. You have your whole life in front of you. You are a smart kid to come to this so soon.

Don't worry where the fat will come off you. You keep working on the basics (portion control, healthy choices and exercise) all that weight will creep off you before you know it. Because you see yourself daily (and with fat goggles on) you will not notice it. One day however you will catch yourself in the mirror and you won't look as fat or a tight shirt you wear is now too loose. This will happen...it happened to me and it can happen to you. Dare to step forward to your better future! :D

Wishing the best on your journey.

How amazing that you've made your decision whilst at the age you are ... I've been struggling with my weight for more than 40 years, and just wished that I had taken the advice and support of my family when I was 16, instead of rebelling and purposely not doing anything, just to spite them ... How wrong I was, it was me I was hurting all that time, if only I had realised sooner, but now I've made a commitment to do something, and make healthier choices, and I will be on a lifelong journey, not just a 12 week program, I can never go back to how I was eating before, I can never do that again, but I can continue to make good choices about what I eat and how I live my life. I wish you the best of luck, and because you've made these choices at the age you are, I just know that you can do it!! Well done, and congratulations on your journey.
Cheers

Hiya Kevin and congratulations on your loss far .. well done.

Weight loss is more about food than exercise so while you're injured keep an eye on your calories as you'll be right. But exercise is important for toning the more muscle you have the more calories they burn. Try not to use it as an excuse though .... if it's a leg muscle then try to use your arms for something or visa versa.

Keep going with it all - the more you lose the better you will feel and the better you will look!

Thanks Metalcharm,
At this moment, I'm trying to find some good diets to lose a lot of weight in a low amount of time, I am aware that many of them are unhealthy, so I try to check on the vitamins and other things if they're giving you enough energy and stuff to keep going through the day without feeling healthy. If someone here knows some diet of any kind that worked for them, please post here :)
I've already recovered from having hurt muscles,
next week having exam period, so no sports for me then, lack of time for them, but straight after it I'm going to restart running and maybe do fitness (not sure though!)
I really hope I can be down to 95 kg before Christmas.
Cheers!

Hi MetalCharm
I'm proud to say I'm already down at 96.1 kg's
I'm feeling better than ever and when my mother makes big meals, I never take big portions anymore, it's just something that changed in my life, I don't think about taking a bigger portion, i take a small one by myself without thinking :)
I am right now in my finals period, so it's kind of hard not to eat these big meals but I try to fill it in eating as much fruit as possible (apples, kiwi's , oranges,...) so when i'm hungry i'm not taking any snacks that are unhealthy :)
Also the pants i'm wearing, in the summer holidays I could barely fit in it, now i already had to make more holes in my (dont know how to say it, like a kind of long thing you put around your pants to make it fit better) and i need to make like two new holes :P
thanks for the support, stories always welcome! :)

Belt. Remember that word. It's going to be your best friend in the coming months as it stops your pants from falling down in public! It saved my dignity on a number of occassions.

I got really good at putting new holes in my belts. Tip: do a few holes at a time...saves you doing the job weekly.

Wishing the best for you

Both my parents are Dutch. As my mother gets older the more she reverts back to Dutch language. I spend a lot of time supply her with the English words for the Dutch ones she can only think of.
