The important thing at this point is to stay motivated, especially around the beginning of a new year. Losing weight should be much easier now that the Christmas period is over and all the leftovers have been eaten and other seasonal distractions have passed.
You could try this: Paste a photo of yourself somewhere where you'll see it every day and use it not as "punishment" but as motivation. Sometime in the next few months have another similar photo taken that shows the changes to you, and paste it next to the original. And then, a few months later, do it again...
But remember that although people can encourage you and the Weight-loss website and forum can give guidance and information, at the end of the day it will be your own choices and decisions that dictate whether you will reach a healthy weight and lifestyle. If you are determined and don't give up then you will succeed.
