When I look in the mirror, I think, "I don't look too bad". Sometimes I even think I look good! It's not until I see a photo of myself

I have this problem too!. Sometimes I think " I Know I am heavy but I think I am looking good in this outfit/colour" and then later I see a photo and realise that I looked really dreadful. Its devestating!

I recently went to a training course where they filmed us delivering a presentation. I thought I looked pretty good that day in a skirt and top. When I saw the footage I looked huge! Even my husband said "Gee your boobs look pretty big"

No wonder people in the public eye diet down to nothing!

It can be quite depressing, can't it - especially if you were really looking forward to seeing the photo's! Then you see them & all you can see is a "fat" you & everyone else is slim.

I find it depressing because I did modelling in my young, skinny days so I used to like looking at photo's of myself. Now I hate it.

But it's amazing how many people have that kind of body image of themselves, isn't it? Seeing ourselves as slim but in reality, we're not. I wonder why..... Is it being optimistic......? Is it denial....? Is it confidence....? I can't remember what Dr Phil said about it!!! LOL!!!!

I had one outfir I used to wear all the time 'cos I thought I looked great in it. Sort of a power outfit, you know - with it on no one could see that I was 3 million pounds overweight... and then I saw some photos... now I can't bring myself to go anywhere near it!
Shattering, really, 'cos how you feel is so much more important than how you look, so the confidence that that outfit gave me is often missed!

Hi Shaz, welcome to the group! I totally agree - photos dont do us justice - or maybe they do, by making us realise we were seeing oursleves with rose coloured glasses. I can relate to looking in the mirror, think 'wow, i look like hot stuff tonight' then getting photos back and going 'ok 20kg lighter I would have looked like hot stuff'. LOL. Look forward to seeing you around!
