Well, actually, here goes 33 kilograms :D :D

Hi everyone, I'm another newbie.

My goal is to lose 33kgs and keep it off for GOOD!! I have always been a "big" girl (although looking at high school pictures now I realise that I actually wasn't fat - even though everyone told me I was....but that's a whole other story). 5 years of infertility treatment, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and a love of food have seen me reach my highest weight ever. I look awful, I feel awful, and my health is becoming awful.

I have to lose at least 20 kgs by November this year, so that is my first goal. It's a long and complicated story, but basically if I don't lose that much weight by then, I will lose my chance at becoming a mother....so I'm motivated.

I have decided to do Optifast for a couple of weeks (3 shakes a day) and then make longer-term plans from there. I have joined the gym and did my first workout today...boy am I going to hurt tomorrow

Anyway, nice to be part of the group. I look forward to "chatting" with you soon!

LBD :D

hey there ladybug welcome to the group :) im sure you can lose the weight if you stay determined :) you have a lot to look forward to, i also have pcos and was told i could not have children without fertility treatment. i fell pregnant after a course of metformin. every case is different though and i have learnt to not blame the pcos for weight gain but to actually look at it as something i can be in control of by losing the weight. best wishes

Hi Ladybug

I lost 33kg, most of it I did by myself through diet and exercise, but at one stage I reached a plateau and used optifast for a couple of weeks to get me through that. I then continued to lose more weight once I was back on full meals.

I used Optifast under the direction of my GP and a dietician and would highly recommend this.

I am now trying to maintain my weight, it is still not totally stable, up a bit down a bit, but still working on it.

Hello Ladybug, I am a newbie as well. :D

I was on Optifast a couple of years ago and it was working for me, in fact I lost 13 kilos in a matter of just a few weeks but then because of lifes events taking over I stopped and of course put it back on again along with heaps more weight.

This time round I have decided to just do one meal replacement, the other meals are just more carefully managed than before so that I lose weight. Because of my blood pressure and the hours I work it was decided that it would not be a good idea to go the whole hog and replace all my meals with optifast or any other replacement shakes.

Good luck to you. :D

Hi Ladybug and welcome! That's a great motivation, and another is setting a healthy example for bubs to be! Good on you!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!
