Hey all!
Im a 17 year old girl and I was born with no thyroid gland.
So for those of you familiar with what a thyroid does or have a similar sort of thing may understand alot about weight.
I have never been over weight but being so busy I often forget to take my thyroxine. Im quite active and muscly But I weigh almost 90 Kilos. It doesnt look too out of proportion although i would like to shed about 15-20 kilos as I am about 5"7.

So if anyone has any really good diets or excercise regimes - swing em` this way!

good luck with all your weight loss endevours!

Hi Jessbabes,

Welcome to the group! This group is fantastic. I've only been here since Sunday and learnt so much stuff and feel alot better about myself too.

I have a second cousin that was born without her thyroid gland and she often forgets to take her meds too.

Good luck with your weight loss and I'm sure you will find all the support you need right here on this forum.

hey there jess welcome to the group, there are a few people here with probs relating to their thyroid. im supposed to get mine checked out but i havent :P

all i can say is that no matter what 'diet' you try all incorporate healthy calorie controlled food and exercise. it needs to be something you can keep up for life- more like a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix. best wishes :)

Hello fellow Thyroxine user - I was diagnosed with mine about 2 years ago and although it does play havoc on my weight - I am determined not to use it as an excuse. So a big welcome aboard - everyone here is very useful and helpful - always ready to give you advice, encouragement or a good old kick in the butt if needed. There are so many diets going around this forum - so jump in and have a read. Looking forward to chatting.
2008 - my year to be great!!

I'm in Hobart also 24yo and 'started' at around 110kg. It is possible, but it takes a lot of retraining!

So do you go to gym or anything?
I know its so hard. i'm like, how am i going to lose 100kg.
I am trying to do it naturally no magic pills etc!
just 30 mins brisk walking a day and 3 meals a day no snacks.
I did put on my old jacket yesterday that was size 18 and it actually fitted was a bit loose!!
