Hi folks. It is fantastic to find this site. I've been feeling the need for some support.
About me... I'm 48 yo female and I have very slowly put on weight since my early 20s. When I quit smoking in 1997 I piled on kilos. I had a back injury 3 years ago; cut back on my food intake as I was worried about about putting on more weight, but did anyway.
I have reached the stage where I am seriously overweight. This has affected my health and I am concerned about the future. I have problems with Fascia Plantar, ie pain in my left heel - for people not familiar it is caused by being overweight and it is very painful. My Mum has diabetes and my older sister just had a heart attack at 52!
I've always been an active person and feel shocked to see my situation and how I let this happen. Now I find when I try to exercise I am easily injured. My latest effort was to take up swimming as it is supposed to be low impact. My husband & I took up kayaking thinking we could leisurely paddle around. But no, no, no I sustained a shoulder injury on my 1 day kayak course! This has also meant I had to pull out of my swimming course. lol I am determined but also love my food.
