No one told me marriage equals weight gain!!!

Postby oostevens » Sun Aug 26, 2007 7:58 pm

Hi everyone.

My name is Rachel, I am 22 and been married for 1yr and 4mths.

My current weight is somewhere in the 80s (kg) and that sucks!

Before I got married I was in the 60s (kg).

So I have joined up for support! I am really bad at motivation, and that doesn't help my husband cos we rely on each other for motivation ha ha.

I aim to get back down to say 65kgs but I know it will be tough, for me.

As of tomorrow, Monday the 27th of August 2007, I am changing my lifestyle.

I am going to work out each morning for 40 mins (treadmill/bike) and start eating smaller and healthier meals.

So hopefully, *this* time it will work. I feel quite motivated at the moment, but....will that last.

Any posts of encouragement, or tips would be great.

Leave me a line anytime :)

Hi Rachael and welcome to the forum :)

My best bit of advice is to take things slowly and not try to make too many changes too soon otherwise you could be setting yourself up for disappoinment if you go off the rails. Great idea to start the exercising and watching your portion control. Try drinking lots of water, too. Aim for about 2L a day.

All the best for your weightloss journey!

Hi Rach and welcome to the group.

LOL Oh yeah the marriage thing. Contentment = putting on weight. Actually I think one thing that got me was I would eat as much as my man did even though my body didn't need the extra. Us gals (generally speaking) don't need to eat as much as blokes do. They naturally have a faster metabolism than huh!

Anyway, all the best for your weightloss journey.

Hi rach and welcome! Luckily for me, my fiancee is one of the key people who inspired me to change. he has a (super)natural enthusiasm for life that has rubbed off on me over the years we've been together and that has helped me immensely! But yes, in general marriage can tend to lead to a relaxation of self care, partially cause, well, you've caught your man, no need to fish any more, right? But now it's time to really take care of your health so you can have a long happy life together!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Hiya Rach,

I am glad that you are here, definately being married helps put on the weight gain for most married women and men. If you go to a mall it seems you can tell the married from the not married crowd. lol

After 14 years and 4 kids later I am at that point if I don't lose it now I am afraid it might never come off.

Hope to continue seeing you around on the boards.
