New here and feeling discouraged and exhausted.

Postby metijo » Sun Sep 09, 2007 11:21 am

Hi to everyone. I'm from Tassie, feeling depressed and discouraged about the 35kg that I have to lose. I've been having chest pain (appt with cardiologist coming up) and am heading for 50.

Without meaning to sound like I'm making excuses, being over 100kg and having bad feet makes it really hard to walk and exercise. I could swim, but I need new contacts to do that, as I am as blind as a bat!

Ah well, it's amazing what a google search will bring up eh?

I have a husband of 6 years who is very supportive, three adult kids and one gorgeous grandson, so that's a lot to live for. I just wish that I didn't feel so discouraged and exhausted most of the time.

Thanks for listening.

I am 86kg and find it hard to exercise so I understand where your coming from. BUT you have to do it and push past it.

Once you've done it a few times it will get easier. Especially once you start losing weight.

Hello Metijo and welcome to the forum.

Could you get your husband to start walking with you perhaps even if for 10 mins a day. Or maybe find out if there are any walking groups near you, there often is.

You can do it if you put your mind to it. All the very best on your weightloss journey. :D

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and welcome. I have plantar faciitis (sp?) which has really affected my feet, but even 10 minutes is better than nothing. I also have Fibromyalgia, so have difficulty with fatigue, but I know that I have to get moving.

Thanks. This seems like a very supportive forum and one with a sense of humour too! Gotta love that! :D

Welcome to the forum! It is hard to to impact exercise when you are quite overweight - very hard on the joints etc. I found cycling perfect for me. If you give things a go you might find you find something that's perfect for you!!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

maybe try aqua aerobics, very low impact but gives a good workout.
