Hi.

My name is Amanda, I'm 20 years old and I'm currently a university student and finding it very difficult to keep the weight off when its so much easier to eat sugary foods and drink lots and lots of coffee when writing an assignment thats due the next day.

So, its a time for a change in lifestyle!

Thanks Kate.

I live near Campbelltown. Funnily enough, I actually grew up on the Central Coast. I used to live at Charmhaven.

Hi Amanda and welcome to the forum. I think Uni has a lot to answer for in the weight gain stakes

But exercise and eating well is really good for helping manage stress believe it or not!! Here's to a better lifestyle!
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Lol. Really? I was going through some of the things on here and thinking "Oh....my....god. What on earth have I got myself into?!

I have no idea where to start. But I think I've got a plan forming. Its in the development stage. Tell me if I'm on the right path. Any advice is very much welcome.

I've got my goals worked out, thanks to the Calorie King. Atm I'm around 80kg. My target weight is 55kg but I'll be happy to reach 60kg and then see if I'd still like to lose the additional five.

Tomorrow, I'm going shopping and buying a range of things I've listed as "good food" from extensive research (I've been reading the daily food intake page and CalorieKing). And join the uni gym when I feel ready for it. Before then I'm going to start an exercise plan which is still developing. Any ideas? I don't know how much is too much to start off with. I thought maybe start with a brisk walk every morning?

Welcome to the forum Amanda, ya found the right place mate and feel free to ask any questions ya need too . .

The Calorie King is an awesome tool and teaches you what foods are actually good for you and the obvious bad foods. You be actually surprised what foods hold the most calories too.

yep, I started with walking round the local water resovoir (about 45min) then started jogging some of it. Then I got my bike and started cycling to and from work/uni. Just start at a level that you feel comfortable at, if the first day is too easy, that's ok, you can do more the next day and at least you have done SOMETHING!

Hello and Welcome! :D

Your plan sounds great!!!

I always keep diet jelly, celery sticks and carrots in the fridge..... uni is stressful and so are assignments...... YOU CAN DO THIS!

I look forward to reading your successful weight loss story in the near future.
