Hokay. Going back to the star thing, it's a four-pronged attack, with each pledge earning me a quarter of a star.

1. Drink 2L of water per day.
2. Avoid unneccessary treats (i.e. chocolate, lollies, biscuits, muffins etc when I'm not even hungry!)
3. Record my daily intake in CalorieKing
4. Do at least 30 minutes of exercise/physical activity (i.e. walking, exercises at home, gym) daily.

So, for each day I will record how many quarter stars I have earned. Hopefully I should be able to get a full star on most days, my challenge is relatively easy (I wanted to start slow!)

Instead of having an aim of number of stars per month, I've decided to just record my stars and reward myself at a certain level.

My first reward will be at 10 stars - there's a new PlayStation game I have my eye on!!

I'll post in this thread daily updates on how I'm going. Help keep me accountable everyone!

wow mandie those pledges are great and all of us oldies here know how successful your star system is that you created :) i like the playstation game goal too and maybe some people here who have the new Wii can take a note of that and make a Wii game their goal as well :) best wishes mandie. keep us updated

Day One:

Achieved... drank 2L of water today. wrote intake in CalorieKing.

Didn't Achieve... no exercise (was going to walk to train, but it was raining so I got a lift!), had icecream for dessert (my grandmother bought me a special sara lee one.. it was small..)

Stars added: 2 quarters


TOTAL STARS: one half star


it's a slow start, but it's a start!

Slow starts are better than no starts mate and you can build on it each day :D

No extra exercise (can I blame the rain again? I did do heaps of incidental exercise though, I took the stairs up and down a lot today) and I had a small piece of chocolate swiss roll for dessert... my friend came over for dinner and she brought it so I had to have a small bit!

And for today...

Achieved:
Drank 2L of water (okay, I'm on the last 500ml, but I will finish this bottle before I go to bed!)
Recorded intake in CalorieKing
Exercised! Walked to the train station (started raining just as I got on the train, luckily) - a good 20 minutes, and took the stairs all day, then walking about 15 minutes to the train station again later...

Didn't Achieve:
Well, the treat thing. I was at the supermarket and I was getting my bf a choccie and I wanted one too. However, instead of going for the calorie laden mars bar or twirl or family sized block of chocolate, I chose the lowest calorie option... a small milky way bar. Satisfied my chocolate craving and it was only 100 calories - half the calories of a mars bar!


Daily total: 3 quarter stars!

Running total: one and three quarter stars

Oh dear.. yesterday was a bit of a disaster!

I was doing great all day - had a healthy salad for lunch, resisted all forms of chocolate.. until...

went out to the Movies! (the simpsons movie - it was awesome!)

But, I was running late from uni so we didn't have time to go out for dinner as planned - so grabbed Hungry Jacks next to the cinema... boo! And I may have eaten some pods in the movie.. you gotta have movie snacks.. hmm

Anyway. no time for exercise either!

And - I only got 1L down!

I did record all my intake on calorieking (and it was scary) though, so I get one quarter star... usually I would not input my eating on a day like this but I think its important to put everything in there to keep myself accountable!

So - one quarter star added

total of two full stars/
