this is a little something I picked up from a book I read by A.J rochester - I think it's good to have little perks to look forward to, so I love the idea of having 'rewards' for progress... here's my list:
Lose 5kg - Buy a new CD/DVD/Something I want
Lose 10kg - Get a haircut/dye or Manicure/Pedicure
lose 15 kg - Have a full-body massage
lose 20kg - Go out for a reeeeally nice dinner with my man
Lose 25kg - Buy the box set of DVDs I want
Lose 30kg - My Partner buys me a present of his choice

Lose 35kg - buy new runners (if you didn't need them before now)
Lose 40kg (my goal!) - have a HUGE party/go away for a weekend
or if you don't want to go just by numbers, you can do it this way:
go down a dress size -
go down 2 dress sizes - etc...
lose 10 cm from waist -
lose 20cm from body measurements (adding up waist/legs/arms,etc) - etc...
work out 3 times a week for a whole month -
walk 10 kms in total
jog 10kms
run 10kms.. etc...
I just think it's easier for me to look at short term goals than a whopping great 40 kilos
