Kilojoule Blasters!

Postby kate_turner2000 » Mon Nov 06, 2006 11:25 am

Top five kilojoule-blasters
1. Swap cheddar cheese for fetta.
Fetta has fewer kilojoules and less fat per serving than cheddar cheese and it tastes just as good on a pizza.

2. Swap orange juice for tomato juice.
Tomato juice is better for weight loss as it contains less than half the kilojoules of orange juice and has a lower GI.

3. Swap flat breads for lettuce wraps.
If you're cutting back on bread, try crisp lettuce wraps instead. Sang choy bow is a great alternative to those burritos!

4. Swap a sandwich for some sushi.
Sushi is much lower in kilojoules and fat than your average cheese-and-tomato sanger. Go for salmon, for an omega-3 hit.

5. Swap roasted peanuts for pumpkin seeds.
Snack on seeds for a lower-kilojoule nutrient boost.

Just make sure the feta is the low fat or skim varieties ladies and gents or it is not much better at all........I love feta cheese too!! I also drink the V8 vegetable juice on occasion as it gives you a good vege hit!!

Thanks Kate you are a gem!!

Wierd...I was looking at reduced fat feta today...didn't buy it though.

Pumpkin seeds, now there's a thought those things are yummy.

lol thanks Ally!

I actually didn't go out and buy some. While it IS better than regular cheese, I don't really eat regular cheese that often.

But if there is FETA in the fridge, I'll eat an entire block! Which I'm guessing is not so good for me :P

So I won't buy any...

And I won't buy any brie, or camembert.. *sigh* the whole lot just disappears when I do!

I've learnt to control myself around the soft cheeses and it wasn't easy I can tell you. If it's not Saturday I don't get to have any...end of story. Luckily my head always tells me how much fat is in them so I don't eat too much of it even on Saturday. Previously at least 1/2 a packet in one sitting.
